It\'s a great idea, but the execution on the grass verge and the road surface let it down abit for me I\'m afraid.

Nice concept and execution though :p

It was Jan and Dean not the Beach Boys

Good idea though!

Well Vince, the road surface looks like it needs more texture, and the grass verge needs variation on colour, I\'ve never done a diorama so I\'m not gonna be much help. The actual composition is very balanced, which I like.

Okay, a lesson to me. But in all fairness, while Jan and Dean made #3 with the song, it was the Beach Boys\' \"Beach Boy Concert\" live version that went gold. (both were released in 1964)

Okay, that got a laugh out of me. Nicely done. What model did you use for the \"super stock dodge\"? (I\'m not a car buff... I don\'t recognize the car in the diorama.)

Also, why so near to Baton Rouge, of all places?

First off, I corrected the description so the link leads you to my entry over at the Forum of Doom contest - where there are closer shots of the minis.
This Here Link

I bought a box of die-cast police cars off ebay to see how the scale fit with minis.
The best looking pair from the lot were Louisiana State Police, so I set the scene in Louisiana. Since I can only name 2 or 3 cities in Louisiana, I picked the capital.

The mileage is correct. If you are 20miles west of Baton Rouge, you are 1798 miles from Pasadena CA. (and the lettering is as close as possible to \"highway gothic\" font as I could draw by hand).

The hot-rod is a 1959 chevy Impala low-rider.
It is actually a model of Ramon from the Pixar movie \"Cars\" and came in a McDonalds Happy Meal.

Here is a pic of the car before I painted it:

and here\'s a real 1959 impala:

Oddly enough, despite my age, I get it.. ???

I must\'ve heard my dad playing the song.

Cool diorama, there, Vincegamer.

The verge would look better as dirt and then grass. The rest of the diorama is very good. Did the vote thing.

I got it (unfortunately; man I\'m getting old).

Very nice work on the minis and I really like the diorama. It\'s a nice break from the usual fantasy/sci-fi stuff that posted on here. Well done.

Voted.
