Yes my dearie, but if you had a magic island with a crocodile and a pirate and a pretty girl called mary, you wouldnt be sitting here talking to us.

Mind, theres a few of the older boys Im not too sure dont have a magic island, far too much licking of brushes after using industrial cleaners.lol

All I can say is what I do, washing up soap with toothbrush, (the wife\'s preferably) lol rinse and dry, use decent primer, black GW works for me but car primer is recommended.
If it still dont work, try varnishing it then painting over, good luck And i\'ve primed my pilot this way I got from Salute and he\'s good.

For my general resin cleaning i use swarfega great for degreasing anything. as for primer get yourself down to halfords and get some of thier plastic primer ...it has a higher solvent base in it so it sticks hell of a lot better than the regular GW primer

WTF? Peanut butter isn\'t exactly noted for its cleaning ability. Why would you use that?! Peter Pan would do SOOO much better.

Sorry, had to. :p

Its a squirty lemon! Peanut butter...sheesh! Jif goes on your pancakes on shrove tuesday...

Do they even sell peanut butter in England? I thought you guys hated the stuff.. I on the other hand prefer Skippy Extra Chunky on my toast in the morning :D But I don\'t think it would do any good for cleaning miniatures.

Bump... As it\'s gone to another page

Copied from page 1...

OK...
Keeping calm...
<deep beaths>

The paint is now adhering fine... Except that the surface is grainy, and sucking up the paint... I feel that there is too much primer...

I am getting annoyed thinkling about it.
TWICE now it seems I will have to strip this guy...

Here\'s what he looks like now
WAAAAAA.jpg

I now officially hate resin. :(

<thought>
Would anyone be willing to prepare these resin guys for me?
(This one and the ork pilot)

I don\'t think I could face stripping it AGAIN...

i myself have just picked up a forgeworld nurgle dreadnuaght and have only prinered it.after all this im kind of scared to go any futher. i didnt get it new, but its FW so its a lot of money to me. if it works ill tell you what i did.
oh sorry to steal your thunder.

ok on the primer did you make sure it was well shaken cause i have had trouble with primer sucking up paint that hasent been shaken enough. dunno ummmm and maybe odd but have you varnished and or dull coted it after the primer. might help the paint stick. again dunno

Yeah, the primer was shaken VIGOROUSLY for the recommended minute before spraying, and dull cote has been applied.

It is, unfortunately GW skull white as I wanted a white undercoat.

As mentioned, I DO have a humbrol black primer specifically for miniatures though if that might work better...

At least the paint IS sticking now, even if it looks grainy and cack. ONE problem solved. :p

GW USED to have a decent white primer, but now I have given up on it. The stuff they sell now have always given me a grainy surface no matter how much shaking, sweet-talking or threatening were involved.

Skull white is decent afaik :)P) even though tamiya for example is superior, never seen it go that grainy. Sure it\'s the primer? FW resin can come extremely grainy though was the surface fine before you prime it? otherwise you have to use the old sandpaper... and lots of cussing! ;)

Some of the grain seems to be due to the picture compression though.

hehe - Cheers Averlorn :p But it really DOES look that bad IRL (AFAIK :))

I think I\'m just gonna have to face stripping it again and trying the black UC.

Why not get yourself a decent primer from another source? You will not only get a proper primer, but also pay a lot less for it.

OK, so I managed to strip him yet AGAIN.
I tried a bit of acetone on some spare sprue and it didn\'t melt, so that helped.

However, whilst I was brushing him with an old toothbrush - due to some of the detail being SOOO fine, the end of his oxygen pipe has come loose! :(

FORTUNATELY, the other end is still attached, and the resin is bendy enough not to have snapped right off, so re-attaching shudn\'t be a problem...

EXCEPT... Wondering what glue wud be best... As the piece is SOOO small, I\'m not sure superglue (Even with accelerator) would be best...

Any ideas peeps???

I had loads of trouble simply cleaning up mine. Superglue should be fine, just get a tiny tiny bit on the end of a pin or something and add the smallest stroke possible - less is more. As for the primer, well... it was the same with mine (the graininess is still slightly visible on his face), and I don\'t think it really is so much the primer\'s fault as the mini is so mind-bogglingly detailed that any coating will make it look grainy, as the resin is so smooth and fine. It\'ll look a lot better when yo take a brush to it :D

OK, so I decided to spray black, so I\'ll show the end results later on once dry. I\'ve also decided not to worry TOO much about completely coating him, then I can fill in any gaps and light areas with the base coat.

I also put together the ORK pilot too, and those arms are a pain in the rectum :p
