I am impatiently awaiting how you plan to proceed in duplicating the polished bronze indicated by the helmet above but waiting is a good thing.......... meanwhile has it been pointed out that this marvelous painting exercise has been performed on a figure small enough to be perched atop a wine bottle cork? I wish I had the patience to paint with that detail. Also recent developments seem to indicate there is no way to ascertain she is a natural brunette.

Looking forward to further installments..........

Here it is again with a couple of glazes of Rucksack Tan, some Thornwood Green, a layer or two of Cryx Bane Base and some CBB plus Thamar Black

Next step will be fixing up the bronze of the shield.

I've attached the shield, which of course showed that some of the highlights weren't quite in the right spot. I'm now pretty happy with the bronze areas, unless someone spots a problem I haven't seen!

Sorry about the photos - it's very hard to get good colour balance with a mobile phone camera, even after editing. For what it's worth the grey paint on top of the cork is GW Codex Grey, and I'm adjusting the photos so that's as close to neutral as I can get it.

I have run some of the old GW Green Ink (are there any modern equivalents?) and some GW Brown Ink into the shadows and strengthened the line highlights with a bit more Bleached Bone. I think it's working better now:

As you can probably tell I am struggling a bit with colour choice for her boots, so I have started on the shield design as a break:

At this stage there is no shading on the background - the convex shield actually produces a surprising degree of self-shadowing.

Hmph. Silly phone ate my post.

Shield done. I'm happy with it and the sword now. Also happy with the freehand. Blending the grey background was a nightmare.

Boots were done but I've messed them up while fixing her skin so they'll need redoing.

I couldn't fix the skin shading with glazes - just made it messier - so I opted to redo it. Everything below the Scabbard strap is new. For a change I am trying to block in layers and blend later, instead of my usual method of trying to blend each layer as I go. Fingers crossed eh? I do notice a small error in the triceps and the abdominal anatomy that I'll fix in the next session.

Basecoat is GW Elf Flesh + Carnal Pink. First shade is base + Elf Flesh + Khardic Flesh. Second shade is base + Battlefield Brown. Third shade adds more Battlefield Brown to the mix. First highlight is base + VMC White. Second highlight is White + Carnal Pink.

Thinking the shadows need a bit more colour, maybe a people or even purple + green (Cryx Bane Base perhaps?). I intend to hit the final highlights with a little Arcane Blue in the mix, what do you think?

Still really struggling with the skin tones. I hinted around for photos with tons I could match, and eventually came up with this as a set of swatches:

Any comments or suggestions at this point?

She is Beautiful! I Do think you should zoom out a tad with the camera. The shield looks marvelous also.

Nice update and kudos for such detailed work on what is ostensibly a figure one inch tall. Fantastic!

I don't know what I would do when confronted with such an armed nekkid representative of feminine pulchritude; defend myself or jump her bones...........Ha!
