On how I almost removed my hand... :P

OK... So here\'s the deal...

Let me explain first; we had some stuff to take to the tip (dump or whatever you know it as), and it was all in a trailer round the back of the house...
The drive at the back is quite a steep slope and there\'s also the remains of some scaffolding that used to be something years ago, but I forget what. Also had to use mum\'s car as mine doesn\'t have a tow hitch...

So I parked the car at the top of the slope, handbrake on, just getting out the car...
When I hear this \"Ka-chink\" or something and the car starts rolling backwards down the slope!

Now I\'m halfway out, with the door open :p
I must\'ve reached to shut the door or something, I forget - probably due to what happened next...

The car rolled back, and the door caught on one the scaffolding poles ... And my hand - crushing it with the weight of the car
Somehow I managed to put a foot on the brake and then drive the car back up to the level ground at the top of the drive...

Suffice to say, my hand hurt like a BITCH for a while, but there SEEMS to be no lasting damage... The same cannot be said for mum\'s car door however

Ok, so in THIS picture, at that angle the damage looks minimal...

But now see if you can see where my HAND was...

Ha - cheers guys.
No - fortunately I was my LEFT hand, so painting is fine.

And I\'m PARTIALLY ambidextrous, so the OTHER use is and would have been fine :innocent: lol

how were you twisted to get your left hand into a position to crushed like that on the right side of the car? I\'m surprised your whole body didn\'t get broken.

And I agree with Steelcult...whatever you\'ve been eating...I\'ll take some of that.

They have the steering wheel on the opposite side that we have(Weirdos :D), so Had he been over here he woulda crushed his right hand.

Look a the pictures...the steering wheel is on the right side of the vehicle and it was the driver\'s side door. That means that to get his left hand smashed he must have been reaching across his body or else he was still outside the car at the time....I\'m just trying to figure out the acrobatics that must have been performed

To be honest I can\'t remember which hand it WAS - I suppose it makes more sense if it was my right hand, given the positioning, but for some reason I think it was my left - but I can\'t think HOW I would have managed THAT... :p

Arm of steel man! I had my hand crushed by a 1/2 ton steel plate in the military (many, many years ago) and my first thoughts were \"Am I going to ever draw again?\" I did recover most of the use of my hand, but it was scary going for a while.

Thank \"something\" you didn\'t get worse than you did.

Well, which one hurts?

Glad it wasn\'t any more severe.

Good to hear that the car was only one that tool any damage. Sounds like you need to get the parking brake line looked at as well as that door. I\'d also have someone look at the hand just to make sure that nothing got damaged, pain or not.

Here\'s a guy who just crushed a car door by applying slow pressure through his hand and now can\'t even remember which one it was because it made so little an impression on him at the time.

...note to self... - NEVER scuffle with Dan.

Dan - do your family and friends know you\'re bionic? You\'re one tough cookie, bro!

I have to say though...this would have never happened if your steering wheel had been on the proper side of the car. lol

Just picking on you man...it\'s all fun and games \'till someone loses a....hand.
