lol Thanks guys. Uber: I am only in debt because I wanted to replace my iPod in time for going on holiday :D If I hadn\'t paid £9 for next day delivery I would be square with my dad by now. Even though it took like 2 months. Anyway, the iPod was worth it, and soon I wil be able to buy a fish tank. Go me

Wow if the reason I was in debt was to replace the iPod I don\'t even have, that would the happiest day of my life. :p

Good pic. The checks look like they were a pain. :)

Hope you sell it for your freaking iPod. bah. (only joking around)

I\'ve a bone to pick with you

It\'s nothing to do with your painting which looks up to your usual high standard but a couple of points;

1) Personally, I think it\'s a really uninspiring figure.
2) It\'s not the best photo. It\'s a little dark and therefore hard to make out the details.

However, as I was mulling this over and thinking of a suitable reply, I left my painting area to come and type a response and subsequently spilt a glass of green paintwater all over my kecks and the floor - thanks Bill!

Are you perchance in league with Nurgle?!!

Well, thanks for all the advice!

Certainly a lot of useful stuff to bear in mind for my next sale. I see what you mean about the photos and figure itself; Spacemunkie has sent me Photoshop in the post, so hopefully I should be able to improve that aspect, and I\'ll choose the minis I sell more carefully... as it is, however, I don\'t think I can be arsed to rework this particular mini. I have a few other minis lined up which, considering the factors you guys have mentioned, should have a better chance of selling anyway, so I\'ll get painting :)

As for shipping... I think you\'re right about lowering the UK shipping, but I\'m not sure about the international, since I\'m worried I\'ll get a buyer from I dunno, Guatemala or somewhere, and it\'ll cost a load to post - should I create separate categories for eg. UK, Europe, Canada/America, and Rest Of World? I\'m basically inexperienced with sending people stuff at all, so I have to admit cluelessness here :D And Paypal - the only reason I put Only Paypal Accepted was because I didn\'t know how I\'d handle other methods, but yeah I see how that could discourage a bunch of potential customers. I\'ll have to ask my dad, because it\'s his account after all! :)

Oh, and thanks for the advice about titles. Definitely not something I\'d really considered before. I can see how useful a good title could be!

Hopefully my next sale will go better.

Thanks again :)

That\'s reminded me, I think I have that figure somewhere, along with some of the other old chaos champions. Really good paint job on that one, very bug-like siny looking and all.

Bill yuou need to aim to get your photo\'s close to, if not better than, this level.
The original was too dark and affected whatever selling capability it had.
Plus a lot of the deatil was lost due to the angle and tonal range closeness. (ie you can\'t see the segregation of the fingernail very well against the background.)

shipping

Personally I always charge exact shipping.
People get mad if they think you\'re trying to make a profit on shipping.

One thing I do its give free shipping, but add a few quid to my starting price. You will be surprised how many people think this is a fantastic deal.

Plus Free Shipping is great for the subtitle.

(Highbulp Billy was caught out by this lol )

Cheers folks. I\'ll spend a good few hours on photoshop with my next mini, I\'m sure :D And thanks again Tim, I posted the mini today, should arrive tomorrow or the day after :)

Also, Bill - as mentioned (somewhere)

As there aren\'t many bright colours on this figure, and nothing in particular to draw the eye in, you may also want to include some embedded close ups of areas of particular interest.

With this figure in particular, you may have show a close up of the head.

Glad it finally sold though :p
Let us know when ya sell off another one!

Hi Bill

Nice mini - much prefer the classic chaos & nice paint job!

Although Tim\'s picked it up I would say a few things for the future, some of which have been picked upon here.

1. Pic - Get it brighter and more vibrant. Use a blue/white background and that great paint job will shine.

2. Title - Always scan through ebay Pulse before list - This is list of most frequent keyword searches on ebay categories.

e.g.
Wargames & Role Playing as whole
Pulse - Wargames & Roleplaying

Relevant possibly - \'Army\'

Warhammer - subcategory
Pulse - Warhammer
Again - \'Army\' + \'pro-painted\' \'painted\' \'Chaos\'

Pro-painted is usually death as said above, but looking at pulse maybe title of:

\'OOP Painted Warhammer Nurgle Chaos Army Champion\'

3 of the most popular words in there with no spamming

Condider paying 35p for sub-title - \'High Quality Painted Figure by Golden Demon Winner Bill Jobling\' - sub title can be searched on ebay as well

3. The Listing:
Get a WIYSIWYG web page editir (Loads of free ones). Ebay\'s editor is fairly poor. You can make your listing more impressive and eye catching. You could then place your pic right at top to grab people. Allows you to add a load of other images if want in description by putting in link from free storage like Photobucket (No additional ebay fees that way too)

2nd big advantage of this is the editor allows you to put in Alternative txt description for pic (What appears if you hover mouse over it). This can be much longer say - \'OOP Citadel Games Workshop Warhammer Fantasy Realms of Chaos Nurgle Champion - Painted figure by Golden Demon Winner Bill Jobling\'

This text is picked up by the search engines like Google! More Traffic

4. Description. At the moment just standard text - get emotive. Tell a mini story. Make people want to buy it. Describe how you feel about it and sometimes why you are selling. Maybe get a scan of your GD Certificate and pic of statue on listing and what you got it for - Gives people confidence that you did win it. Not everyone is as well informed.

5. Post - Bit Pricey, maybe should be £3 Rec Del. This mini would only cost lowest 2nd class small packet rate. You have not told people how it would go either - 1st/2nd etc

I hope this helps you and others and isn\'t too long.

I have listed 2 of my current auctions below, its not perfect, but I have tried to use the above. Old stuff just want to shift I did years ago, BUT on 1 had bid within 12 hours of listing and now have 89 hits, 3 bids and 10 watchers with 4.5 days to go. The trick is getting the first bid on early as bids generally encourage bids.

Couple examples (I am still learning it never ends)
Example 1
Example 2

Oh bugger just noticed have broken photo links - more painting time lost

Tim: He has two layers of dullcote, and is glossed on the bits I wanted to be gooey (eg. the tongue). Glad you like him :D

Warpaint: thanks a lot for that man :) I\'ll be bookmarking this thread!
