Ork shoota - looking for tips

Hi! First post on CMoN so be gentle!

Here\'s an Ork shoota boy I\'m working on. I\'m currently focusing on the tunic, which I\'m trying to paint as white cloth before putting a blue/grey camo scheme over it. Hopefully the shading on the tunic will still be visible under the camo!

The leather straps, trousers, gun and metal bitz are only basecoated at this stage.

I plan to post it up for rating when it\'s done, until then, any suggestions or tips would be great!

Cheers

Looks good to me, even if the pic is quite big :) As for some suggestions, maybe using a white glaze to smoothe the shading by the straps. But I\'d say a solid start here, well done.

Cheers,
Tom

EDIT: Voted and commented on the ork in your gallery :)

Your work looks good so far, but the wash will probably be a good idea. When you start on the blue/grey camo, I hope you will give it hard, straight lines in stead of soft curves - simply because I think it looks cool.
Good luck.

Done a bit more work, this time on the arms, trying to emphasize the highlights and shadows a bit more and smooth things out a bit. I haven\'t done the head yet so you can see the contrast.

OrkBoy, can you explain a bit more about the \"white glaze\"? I have only heard of glazing with inks before?

Oh, and thanks for the vote and the comments! When I have finished this shootaboy I will be going back to the Nob and improving him too :)

nice smooth greens as well.
I think what orkboy means is a wash made of thinned down white paint (that\'s what I would use) wich you could paint on top of the white and brown. This would whiten the brown a bit and smoothen the transition zone.

I\'ve gone over the head and face with some more highlighting and shading. I think I\'ve taken it up a bit far though as now the arms don\'t quite match!

Yeah, Manus hit the nail on the head - thinned down white paint, to a milky consistency - not thick at all. That way you can keep doing it until you\'re happy with it. :)

It\'s coming along really really well! I like the skin, as Manus said nice and smooth. As for the face and arms not matching up, maybe you could highlight the arms to the same degree as the face? That would solve your problem, as it will be harder to darken the head down to the arms\' tone than the other way round. :)

Anyway, looking great, gotta love that metal eyepatch, really characterful touch.Well, I like it anyway ;)

Cheers,
Tom
