Greetings my most excellent painters!
A big 'Hello' from Berlin from the Painting Buddha Team: Ben "White Rabbit" Komets, Mati "Badsmile" Zander and myself - Michael "Zaphod Beeblebrox" Bartels.
Some of you already know about it, but we would like to 'proudly present' our first ever miniature painting DVD set called "Season 1.1: Target Identified".
A new approach
Having pretty much bought every instruction DVD and online services ever made ourselves, we were always kinda missing something.
We wanted a better view of the miniatures, a view of the palette, video footage of the artist and so on. We wanted to see an artist finish a full piece, not just bits and pieces. We wanted to compare different artist's styles. Also, we would have loved to be able to paint the same mini as the artists, followowing them along, step-by-step.
In short, that is what we have done! I convinced Ben and Mati to join our new company (called "Manabu" btw, japanese for 'Learning') full time and we started working!
An important decision for us was not to go for 'big profits': Of course, we need to pay our bills, but that's pretty much it. Therefore, we will distribute any profits we like this:
- 42% will be reinvested.
- 42% go back to the community (giveaways, commission works, events, sponsoring) and
- 16% will go to charity.
Another important decision was to offer the product at an insanely low price so that people interested in our hobby would not lose an arm and a leg just for 'trying to paint a mini'. We love the hobby and want to grow it as much as we can.
Our fully stacked "Supporter Box" (details below) comes in at 84€, and the no-thrills "Budget Box" only costs an unbelievable 42€. Zaphod Beeblebrox, 42, Ultimate Question... You get it, right?
Battle of the Brushes: Ben and Volomir
For our first DVD set we got none other than tripple-Slayer-Sword-winner Ben "White Rabbit" Komets, showcasing his fabulously fast wet-in-wet technique. His partner in crime is Rafa "Volomir" García Marín (Link to his Blog), one of Spain's finest miniature painters and just an awesome dood. Rafa will use a mixture of airbrush and multi-layering techniques. On the base he will even use oils - just because he can!
Choose your style, follow both painters along - step by step - the miniatures they are painting are included in the set!

We basically decided to design a product that we ourselves could not resist buying ^^.
