Paratrooper with no camo?

just claim he is from some obscure unit that no-one has ever heard of then you can paint it however you like.

if anyone challenges the validity of the colour scheme just tell them to look it up and when they turn to leave hit them in the back of the head with a shovel :)

pesky historical modellers, definately not enough boobies for my liking ;)

BTW, what are the figures? Dragon 1/35? If they are, the artwork is likely to be Ron Volstad, a very competent painter (and modeller too, from Canada) who strives for accuracy.

The jump smock was worn over regular luftwaffe uniforms but was retained in combat.

By 1944 the paras ware no longer doing combat jumps and were used mostly as specialised infanty. By the late war supplies were thin on the ground and the jump smock, be it green or camo was considered an item of an elite unit, and as such much prized but the soldiers. They did survive until the late ware but in fewer numbers. You can paint the figure in a green jump smock.

Nice mini

Just a update - Mini has to be early war as in jump smock and with parachute.

German paras last jumped in taking of Crete in May 1941. Their losses were too high for Hitler\'s liking and he never used them in airborne role again. Just used them as elite ground troops, such as in Italy under Kesselring.

I love the mini painted as is. Only thing is it\'s quite a peculiar expression. Mind you those parachute straps have been known to sut in the worst places!

Good work man
