pegasus wing

I just bought a pegasus but I\'m having problems gluing is wings. So I was wondering if anyone had already done it and how. Did you pine them ? I\'m also having the same problem with my dark elf sorceresse, I cut off the staff to convert it a bit but now I\'m unable to put it back on And it looks like it\'s way to small for pinning. Please help !!!!

my only suggestion is to pin both. with regards to the sorceress, you may need a smaller drill bit and wire. personally, i haven\'t been able to find a drill bit smaller than 1mm so good luck with that

In the past I\'ve used drill bits and brass wire as small as 0.5mm, but the problem with this is that 1. the drill bit breaks very easily and 2. if you are going to pin a very thin piece of the miniature (like a bannerpole or a staff) it\'s still no good, because the metal left over after drilling (so the metal surrounding the pin) would most of the time be too thin to give good support to the attached piece.

I would pin the wings (hell, I pin about everything I can: even my miniatures get pinned to their bases). And try to (and now I\'m not sure is this could work with this miniature because I\'m not too familiar with it) completely remove the original shaft of the staff, drill a hole completely through the hand, use a brass rod to make a new shaft, en somehow attach the head of the staff to that new shaft. This way at least the shaft of the staff is securily attached to the hand/body.

Now reading this again and I\'m not all too sure it\'s all that clear. But it\'ll have to do. If you have any questions (if you think the above could work at all), just let me know.

I guess that with a 1mm or 0.5 mm pine it could work for the pegasus, it might even work for the sorcress.
sjakkie: thanks for the idea but th eproblem I\'m having is that it cut of the hand holding the shaft with the shaft. so I need to glue the hand to the arm.

What does the end of the arm look like? Is it all wizardly robed or is it a bare arm? If its a bare arm I would create a greenstuff bracer or like object to thicken the arm for support purposes.

the arm is in a sleeve held tightly to the arm, and on the back of the arm the has a kinda of braclet with spikes. But I don\'t think I would be able to sculpt anything like this yet.

Can you drill through the hand/staff straight into the arm??

Then insert pin - slightly shorter than depth of hole so it finishes below the finished level (countersunk). Fill hole with putty.

Yes, pin the pegasus wings. This will make them much more durable. I use a drill that matches a small paperclip. (english, not sure of metric)

Hold wing where you want it, drill through wing into body. Cut wire slighly smaller than depth of hole. Poke the wire into the hole so it is countersunk. Put superglue on joint - it will wick to the wire.

You now have a small hole to fill in the wing. This is easier than trying to line up the parts after you have drilled in one side.

Oh, Frenchkid, pin is a small piece of metal. Pine is a wood. I know english is a tough (tuff) language and I am not picking on you, just trying to help. I am by no means a master at english my self, and I was born here.

I have done that and it works fine.

Airhead\'s idea is sound. There have been many occasionjs where I have just drilled straight through two components after lining them up. Super glue wire in main component and thread minor component onto wire, dab more superglue and hold for the few seconds it takes to cure. I leave wire sticking out and then trim off as flush as possible. A quick bit of work with a needle file and the pin totally disappears...Magic!!!
