Post your Free Folk Army Lists!

What are people running for Free Folk armies? The challenge seems to be having enough Free Folk raiders to make them useful, while also leaving room for some of the more "elite" members of the Free Folk army.

Trappers seem amazing for dealing with Wolves and putting out wounds on hard to damage units, but I couldn't squeeze them into this first list. Share your lists below!

My plan:

x4 Freefolk Raider w/ x2 Raid Leader
x2 Freefolk Trapper (For the flanks, to punish expensive units with those automatic wounds!)
x1 Spearwives w/ Mance, Commander
x1 Giant (To finish off tarpitted units)

Craster

I like it! The trappers will help deal with more maneuverable units as well.

Does anyone know what the non commander version of Mance does? or does he has to be the commander if you field him?
because i have a 40 point list but with 3 points to spare and would like to use mance for that.
otherwise, what does tormont non commander do?

Kind regards

I tried this one tonight:

Raiders
+Tormund (Commander)

Raiders
+Raid Leader

Spearwives
+Spearwife Matriarch

Savage Giant
Savage Giant
Savage Giant

NCUS
Lady Val
Craster

40 pts.

Versus a Greatjon Umber list. Things kinda fell apart when I failed two charges in a row.

I like the idea of three giant lists, but my thoughts so far are that if you go that route in a 40 point game you need to maximize Raiders.

So for instance I have been trying 4 raiders (one with raid leader), 3 giants, and then your same NCUs. It has done ok against Stark, will be trying it against Lannisters soon.

I already test this list versus a Lannister army with Guards and Mountain men.

Moral tests hurts if you are a little far away of Mance and short range is really short...
In addition, with the Lannister "Fealty to the crown" card, each fail will be hardly sanctionned and Mountain men will be healed :-/

This list is not the best versus moral test armies I guess...

This is a simple "Northern Flood"-list, which is build around having more activations as the enemy.
Craster's task is to regulate the giants damage-output ideally keeping them at around 3 to 4 wounds.
Mance is my fixed-build-in-NCU as he's a heck of a nuisance to the enemy.
The single raid leader is to activate giants, not the free folk.
The Free Folk Raiders are there to.... err... well, die. Flood, shield the giants from X-bow or scorpions, eat heavy enemy impacts , prepare enemy-units for the giant's broom.

Commander: Tormund Giantsbane - Thunderfist

• Free Folk Raiders (3) with Tormund Giantsbane - Thunderfist (0)
• Free Folk Raiders (3) with Raid Leader (1)
• Free Folk Raiders (3)
• Free Folk Raiders (3)
• Free Folk Raiders (3)
• Free Folk Raiders (3)

• Savage Giant (7)
• Savage Giant (7)NCUs:

• Craster - Ally of Convenience (3)
• Mance Rayder - Artful Tactician (4)

This list worked quite well against a mixed stark-list... just had to keep the giants out of Stark-bowmen's reach over the heads of my raiders.
Against Lannister they bleed, and much so. That d*#@ supremacy enforced by a captain let's the raiders melt like butter in chernobyl... barely won by points as i kept my giants out of combat and focussed on the victory-points on the table. So againts Lannister this is a hard list to play - i'll have to figure out something else (waiting for the cave dwellers and the followers of bone).

The jist: Tons of sunder. Jarl swinging in from the side, with 10 die attacks thanks to Harma. Ygritte on the field to assassinate. Trappers supporting the Spearwives and Followers with their bubble of doom. Styr nibbling on enemy units. Manse weakening the heavy hitters. Everyone having a grand time, not bending the knee. Ta dah!

Really like the list & think Harma has some real potential as a commander. I tend to like the Cave Dweller Savages more than the Spearwives for 5 pt units. How have your Spearwives fared in your battles? Any non-obvious synergies w Harma?

SAVAGE RAIDERS
Combat Units:
Cave Dweller Savages (5) with Tormund Giantsbane - Thunderfist (0)
Cave Dweller Savages (5) with Rattleshirt - Ruthless Slaughterer (2)
Savage Giant (7)
Savage Giant (7)
Free Folk Raiders (3) with Raid Leader (1)
Free Folk Raiders (3) with Raid Leader (1)

Non-Combat Units:
Styr - Iron-Fisted Tyrant (3)
Ygritte - Kissed By Fire (3)

Run the Giants up the middle as anvils flanked by Cave Dwellers on one side and Raiders on the other that combine their attacks. When the Raiders hit second, they take advantage of their +1 to hit bonus. With the Cave Dwellers hitting last, there is a good chance they will be able to effectively use their "missing ranks" bonuses.

Tormund in one Cave Dweller unit and Rattleshirt in another should add some extra free 6"+D6 charges into the mix.

Can run it as one massive spear point with two giants in the middle, or as two independent flanks that converge in the middle.

Styr provides an extra punch for giants against armored units or gives Tormund those critical last wounds that ensure a unit's destruction and give him the free charge bonus.

Ygritte is there to steal a zone, provide unit disruption and steal tactics cards.

Good list !!!
rattleshirt is THE attachment for me (with cave dweller) and styr THE ncu
may be two raid leaders is too much, and one unit of trappers is a useful option (for wolf or cavalry; and disorder charge)
i like Mance Rayder (ncu) in place of Ygritte, if you target « letter » you can place two tokens and weaken a lot a unit.

Used this list last night, nothing too special, just flooding the board and denying points.

Tormund with Cave Dweller Savages.
Raiders with Raid Leader.
Raiders with Raid Leader.
Raiders.
Raiders.
Trappers.
Trappers.
Savage Giant.
Val
Craster

Hello fellow nerds
I am fairly New to the game, but I have tried about 10 games with different factions (thx to My experinced friends who let me borrow their spare armys).

I have Come to the conclusion that i want to play free folk, Even tho they seen to be Hard to master. Anyways.
I have made this (very simple) list that relies heavy on the skinchangers Even tho they Are not official yet (i think). Is it completly useles?

Bonelord chosen w/ rattleshirt C
FoB /w champion of bone + skinchanger (bear)
FoB /w champion of bone + skinchanger (bear)
FoB /w champion of bone + skinchanger (bear)
Styr and mance ncu.

The combo with FoB and bears Are obvious but the idea is that i can use bears to actualy utalize the tactic deck. My biggest problems in My ff games Are that i want to use My cards. But trying to do so puts me in bad positions or i end up giving My plan Away and they counter me.

I have read all threads of free folks and I learned many tips and tricks from you wise folk so already thank you

With Rattleshirt you have to focus on spiking damage in order to trigger his cards.
This means you need lots of units capable of destroying a rank.

Here is one option;
RATTLESHIRT RUMBA

Faction: Free Folk
Commander: Rattleshirt - The Lord Of Bones
Points: 40 (0 Neutral)

Combat Units:
• Cave Dweller Savages (5)
• Cave Dweller Savages (5)
• Followers Of Bone (6)
with Rattleshirt - The Lord Of Bones (0)
• Savage Giant (7)
• Free Folk Raiders (3)
with Harma - The Dogshead (1)
• Free Folk Raiders (3)

Non-Combat Units:
• Craster - Ally of Convenience (3)
• Styr - Iron-Fisted Tyrant (3)
• Mance Rayder - Artful Tactician (4)

Made with ASOIAFBuilder.com

Cave Dwellers are actually better with Rattleshirt than FoB, since some of the damage output from FoB comes from panic, which wouldn't trigger Rattleshirt's cards.
Styr is there to use his influence to turn your giant into a rank deleter
Harma is there to slingshot giant into whoever you want.
Craster is there for the healing you will need on all these glass cannons, plus the extra tactics card is always helpful.
Mance is there to plop vulnerable tokens and increase chances of rank destruction, and I think that having three NCUs should give you access to the healing you will really need since FF units melt in a stiff breeze and you need your Rattleshirt pumped up units to last long enough to start pushing through damage. You should also be denying moneybags anyways in order to keep enemy ranks likely to roll over.
Raiders are there to take/contest objectives long enough to give your guys time to level up.

My line would look something like (from left to right)
Raiders, Cave Dwellers, Rattleshirt, Giant, Harma Raiders, Cave Dwellers
