Seems that it\'s about time I get a real light set-up, allow me to explain...

Since the dawn of my attempt at painting display, I\'ve either painted in my room with one light bulb illuminating the cluttered surface that passes for a painting desk, at another poorly lit area in my family room, and a slightly better section that I thought was perfect.

And then I took the display mini outside :possessed:.

This is possibly the reason why I see minis in the 7\'s and think to myself, I can do that! Unfortunately with the current light set-up it is difficult to spot blends and where I\'ve painted the highlights/shades already and where I haven\'t, etc.

My point? I want this to be a lesson (and a reminder to myself :p) Always paint in good lighting! Your newest piece may look good under \'average\' lighting, but when you bring it into the daylight or under a lamp, the \'rougher\' look is undeniable.

Basically, don\'t be a fool, proper lighting is cool!

At least halogen is \"whiter\" than incandescent. I use a halogen desk lamp too but my painting area is also lit by nearby incandescent and fluorescent sources. This still makes the light kind of yellow, but if I take my minis outside they don\'t look very different.

It\'s all about the triple fluorescent lamp setup, using nothing but \"cool white\" or daylight bulbs.

As long as they\'re all the same you\'re in good shape... I had to buy extra bulbs when the ones that came with the 2 new lamps I got were very very orange compared to the one I had from before.

It does make a huge difference though, that\'s for sure.

I just bought my first \"daylight\" bulb yesterday and hope to try that out this evening. Currently painting in a dark room in the evenings with a 100W ceiling bulb in a 1970\'s wicker shade ??? When I have the falt to myself for long enough, I move my painting area to the front room where I have a south facing window/wall with loads of natural light during the day which makes a huuuuge difference.

I guess if you can make something look good under fluorescents you\'ve got talent ??? , but seriously, I stand by my two 100 watt task lamps.

No. That might have been a good idea.
It was a refrigerator box, on it\'s side and open at one end.
Okay, maybe I was a bit younger than AL now that I think further on it.
