Revell M1A2 Abrams - IG conversion :)

Picked up a nice 1:35 scale tank which seems to be the right size for 40K - I\'ve tried a few GW bits on it and it should be fine...

And, annoyingly, I\'ve left the pictures on the other PC...

Never mind - the question I had was for the rules guys... So maybe this should go in the 40k section? But anyway...

I want to use it for Imperial Guard, so what sort of rules should I use for it?

And what weapon loadout could I have?

I\'ll include some pictures tomorrow.
The weapons I BELIEVE come with the kit are:

main gun - 120mm ?

2 hatch-mounted .50 cal MGs

Smoke launchers

Anyway - here are the photos I was going to include with the original post.

ALSO, I\'ve decided to have an open hatch just for a bit of extra detail - but I\'m wondering what to put in it - so far I\'ve just tried shoving some bits in there, as in the pictures, but what else could do in there?

I was thinking rope, chain, track...

As a former crewmwmber/driver for that very same tank, I\'m interested to see what you do with it.

I\'m assuming you didn\'t know this but you\'ve placed the extra assault weapons in the battery compartments!lol

The main gun is indeed the 120MM and the top crew serve weapons are a .50 Cal and M240 - .762 cal. There\'s also a coaxially mounted .762 that is hidden away in the small tube next the the main gun on the right (as you\'re looking out)

Size-wise, this could nearly work as a Baneblade as the Russ is much smaller thatn this model. If you use it as a Baneblade I\'d put a larger bore barrel to simulate the Baneblade Cannon.

Can\'t wait to see how it turns out.

Well I COULD put batteries in there SUKI
But at the moment I\'m swaying toward wire or chain...

The cable is better. The chain is all the wrong shape/scale.

I could use a different type of chain, etc but I think I\'m gonna go with the cabling.

But should the inside of the hatch get some plasticard-lovin\'?

yea, a little diamond plate would be cool.

if nothing else, give it some rhino guard like the outside.

Argh - I\'d use diamond plate on everything if I had it

I guess I\'ll just give it a rough finish and add some strips to the edges...

Just a thought - would a piece of high grade sand paper be adequate texturing...? ???

800-1200 grit can look really close to \"scale\" for 40K figures if you want rough textures.
200-400 looks about right to simulate tarmac/asphalt.

Medium grade Glass paper with added patches of fine Sand looks quite good as Desert ground.

Cheers DR - I used a piece - I think it was around 400 - not sure.

More photos once I\'ve got the annoyingly small fiddly rivets done :/

(I got a spare syringe-needle to try this, but annoyingly I realised the point of the needle is angled... Can I still use it somehow? I wouldn\'t wanna just throw it in the sharps bin and waste it)

Got a dremel? cut off wheel will make short work of the angle.

a small fine file (woman\'s fingernail board) would also do, but it will take longer.

I sued a propelling pencil nib instead - which had the advantage of being able to pop out the \"rivets\" with a twist

I have a feeling if I tried to do the same with the needle it would get bunged up :/

you can always just roll a long sauage of gs and cut off rivets. this will allow you to produce various size rivets. you could also do hex bolts too (although it would be fiddly)

The tank will add some nice realism to your army!
Are you going to add some side sponsons aswell?
