Sadly Missed

I have recently had a number of e-mails asking me where my gallery has gone and if I am still around.
I thought it was time to explain to those of you who know me.
I should start this tale by describing my origins of getting into the fantasy mini painting hobby.
I was very much into modelling mainly German WW2 armour from an early age about 9 or 10 I think.
My Grandmother bought me the Lord of the Rings book when I was about 12 and from then on I was hooked on fantasy. My best friend was also (unknowingly to me into fantasy and collected and painted minis). I was about twelve when I painted my first fantasy mini. It was an early Citadel Orc. Through the years that followed myself and Shaun painted many minis had several armies and palyed possibly thousands of games.
Sadly Shaun was killed in a motor cycle accident which was made worse because I was ahead of him and didn\'t find out about the accident until two other members of our party caught me and told me he had come off his bike. He died later in hospital from his injuries.
This is a long ramble I know but I am only now coming to terms with it.
To end this tale I removed my pics as a mark of respect to him. He was a big inspiration to me and together we did some solid work.
RIP my friend you will be sadly missed by all that knew you. :(

Er, Mr Doco...

Sorry to hear of your loss:(

Your story almost mirrors mine.

I got out of historical mini painting when a guy once said that the mud on my tank was the \'wrong colour\':flip:

I also lost my best friend in similar circumstances. He had the wildest Ducati I had ever seen, but was a complete and utter loon.

He had a hole in his helmet from a previous accident that he used to pull his hair through in a long ponytail effect. He refused to add weight to his \'baby\' by fitting a side, or centre stand, so used to carry a large lump of wood bungeed to the frame that he used as a prop:D

On a run once, he appeared to forget that absynth and Ducatis do not mix....

The world is a much less interesting place without him, but I decided I was going to try and do twice as much with my life to make up for the loss of his.

Don\'t remove your gallery. Double it;)

Life is short. And all losses sadden us. We need to enjoy the friends that we have. I have lost way too many over the years and understand where you are coming from. But ask yourself if your friend would not want you to take down your work, but to continue and expand.

Pass your knowledge on to another before your time is past. That applies to much more than painting.

Tidoco, tonight I will shed a tear for your friend and all of mine that are missed. Sadly all take way too young.

my cousin dies 4 years ago in a motorccle accident, after neing wrapped areound a tree by a woman car driver who had drunk over the legal limit....which is half of what is legal in the uk BTW(it happened in The nehterlands). It scares me that people do not pay heed to traffic laws at all, I mean, it\'s lethal.

Will we see your gallery back again one day Tidico?

I already knows your reasons and for respect i don\'t pushed you to re-post your works, i think my silence was the right thing, in fact now you\'ve found in yourself the will to put here your feelings, but since many ask to you, i ask me too: Tim post your works again!
I\'m always close to you, you\'re my best and only friend in Cmon Tim and i\'m very sad for what happened to you lately because you don\'t deserve all this.

first, sorry for your loss,

second, repost and in the comment section, Dedicated to Shaun.

It will say more than the absence, and wherever he is now, he will look down and smile.

Sorry for your loss...

tidico;

I\'m sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my best friend in a similar manner only with a car instead of a motorcycle.

I\'ll tell you the same thing his mom told me \"Keep on doing the things you used to do with him, do it for yourself, and do it to honor his memory...\"

Hang in there mate!

I\'m also very sorry for your loss and mirror the sentiments expressed by others. I think that reposting and expanding on your work, dedicated to your friend, would be the best way to honour his memory under the circumstances.

Kind regards

Kat

I am so sorry

I am so sorry for your loss...how lame that must sound....it is the only way we have to say we care....it stinks that it happened....I respect your decision about your gallery but your talent is a tribute to your friend....perhaps some new minis and some new posts are in order....I am so very sorry....I have lost friends too but life is still yours.....live it well, in honor of your friend.

Both my fiancee and myself offer you our condolences. Sorry to hear about the loss.

I have to agree with everyone else in that I think the best tribute to shaun would be to paint more minis and dedicate them to him. I know that he wouldn\'t want you to stop doing something that clearly gives you so much enjoyment.

Thank you all. I am still painting that will never change. My gallery will appear again soon.
finn I hear what you say he brought about his own end, he took a chance which was not there to take and lost control of his machine.
I have a piece that he painted for me many years ago that I will post on the site as a tribute but not just yet.
Once again thanks all as they say life goes on.

It is said that you are born to your family, but you choose your friends.
I think Shaun had a great friend to show such a mark of respect.

Please let us know when you feel able to post the mini that Shaun gave to you. I for one would like to pay my respects to someone who was obviously an influence.

I also believe that as another painter he wouldn\'t want you to have taken down your down work.

If you know of a favourite figure or character of his, despite the sadness it may bring, paint it as a tribute.

The world always seems a little darker when we loose someone we care for. May your memories of him keep a corner of the world a little brighter than it would otherwise be.

My heart and thoughts are with you.

When I read this I remembered that I still got a painted mini from my dead friend, too and all the emotions instantly bubbled up again. I\'m really sorry this had to happen to you. That just sucks. :~(

I know your pain, Tim. I lost an uncle in a similar way and it takes time to heal from something like that. I\'m very sorry for your loss.

When I first started this thread I did not realise the response it would generate. Once again thankyou all for your comments and watch out as my gallery like the terminator will be back.
