what do you do with the slot base thingie

Newbie here...with newbie question. What do you do with the metal bar for slotted bases if you want to use your own base? Do you slot the base or grind off the bar?

I quess its down to personal preference but you\'ll want the minature to be secure, so you could cut away the bar and pin the feet ( depend how big it is). Or a good way is to trim the bar but leave some under the feet this way you wont have to hack the base up to much. Hope that helps.

I usually cut of the metal bar and then glue the mini to the base. If you plan on using the mini a lot you might want to pin to the base afterwards like brother tom said.

I always cut of the metal bar, and then pin the feet, but I don\'t attach it to the base yet. When I paint the mini I stick the pin in my pin vice and use it as a handle so I don\'t need to touch the actual mini. Once it\'s painted I stick it to its base.

@Jacky
I can also recommend groundforge. I\'ve bought stuff from there and those bases are excellent.

Cant vouch for the other makers but Ive got some Groundforge bases and they are superb.
Clip the metal tag of and carve the \"pin\" from whats left under the feet.
Watch that exacto btw:D

Thanks to all who responded to my query about the slot bars. Guess I\'ll break out the Dremel tool and files and get after them. javascript:icon(\':D\')
