\"Serenity\"

Hey MT - If you get a chance, watch \"War Stories\" or \"Out of Gas\", 2 of the best episodes of Firefly, in my opinion.

I\'m with Drake - D&D 2 will suck, but I\'ll watch it.

Another movie I was \'mildly\' interested in was the new Dungeons&Dragons movie. I didn\'t want to actually see it, I was just wondering why someone would bother with a sequel and if it would be nearly as bad as the first. Now I see it\'s going to be on Sci-fi channel soon. ???

Now I REALLY wonder what the point of making it was. The good part of this is that the trailer makes the movie seem not half bad, and I get to see it without wasting any money. No down side there. :D

Hopefully they won\'t completely give up on the D&D genre and will eventually make one that\'s decent.

I\'ve actually seen D&D 2 already. It\'s not horrible, in fact in some respects it\'s better than the first one. It\'s better quality than most of Sci Fi\'s \"Sci Fi Original\" movies.

There were a couple of things I wasn\'t too happy with but I can see that they do work in the milieu that Serenity is set in.
\'Cos let\'s be honest this isn\'t Star Trek with a happy end for every episode.

Yeah, but I think Joss is going to alienate part of his fan base with this...

The first one I understood and was fine with, but the one near the end? Grrr...:flame:

Yeah it was all a little much for Zor.
It was a waste in my opinion, sure he made his point but at what expense...

I actually like the New Battlestar Galactica.
I like the realism of it, the positioning jets on the Vipers, machine guns and nukes instead of lasers and photon torpedoes.
It actually reminds me of being in the Navy out in the fleet, it feels military.
I couldn\'t get into Farscape.

My feeling was that it made the subsequent battle scene much more suspenseful and tense. They\'re REAVERS, you don\'t fight them head-on and come out unscathed. I half-expected Zoe to die, then Kaylee and Simon (though not River - I could tell what her \"sacrifice\" was leading to).

As for the \"cost\", well there is no cost. That was almost certainly the last \"Firefly\" to be put to screen. But I do appreciate your unhappiness with the \"things\", because, well, they were so SAD :(

Incidentally, I love the fact that we still haven\'t had a good straight-on look at a Reaver, it really enhances their viciousness. If they\'re alive, they\'re moving like velociraptors on meth, if they\'re dead the characters are reluctant to look at them because they\'ve cut their own lips off and stuff. Yee.

Maybe the actor didn\'t want to do any more. He has been getting more work than most of the rest of them and probably does not want to be type-cast.

That was a good one. But I also liked a couple of Jayne\'s lines, usually the throwaway ones that you almost couldn\'t hear. That\'s another thing I like about the style of Whedon\'s work - his characters talk like real people (very witty real people, admittedly). They talk over each other, instead of taking turns like most scripted writing.

I agree with NSA about the Reavers, too. I was really pleased they didn\'t feel it necessary to linger on them the way many filmmakers might have. They remain mysterious even when we know so much more about where they come from.

A friend of mine said the same thing, for which I slapped him...lol...j/k.

BUT I felt that the drama still would\'ve been there, and they could\'ve seen him later on a stretcher with the fleet guys.

Also sucks because he had the best lines...

Mike - I have to say one of my all-time favorites from that was him saying \"can we talk about Jayne getting beaten up by a 90-lb girl, \'cuz that\'s never getting old\"lol

Here\'s the fun part: I had passes to the special previews that showed 2 weeks before the release. My wife became ill, so I took care of her, and gave my passes to a good friend and Sniffles. So my 4 closest friends all go to see it, and have to keep it quiet for 2 weeks \'til I can see it opening day.

Which I know for one of my friends it was tantamount to torture not being able to say anything!:bouncy:

I heard that he was actually unhappy about it, but he understood why Joss wanted to do it. So yeah, it had nothing to do with him wanting to be killed off :(

I agree with Zora, I think the suspense and drama would still have been there without the second death. I\'d have still been hanging on the edge of my seat worried about my beloved firefly crew.
As for people who hadn\'t seen the series beforehand, well, they probably didn\'t form any kind of attachment to any of the characters anyway especially not the one who died - considering the character was hardly even on the screen. So I don\'t think there was any point to the second death, apart from shock value for the die-hard fans. It was like Joss was sitting there saying \"HAH!! DIDNT SEE THAT COMING BROWNCOATS?! DID YOU!!! MUAHAHAH I AM THE MASTER OF MAIN-CAST KILLERY!!!\" *more evil laughter*

I found it to be a pretty crappy tactic on Joss\' part. It wasnt needed, and if this is the last movie, id have much preferred them all to fly off into the black together.
*shakes a fist and cries a little more*

He doesn\'t have too many upcoming projects listed in IMDB so I\'m sure this wasn\'t done to free up his schedule. Hopefully that will change - every member of this cast deserves all the work they can handle!

Hey, I don\'t blame you for feeling like that - Wash was a great character, and one of the easiest for a regular guy like me to identify and sympathize with (well except for marrying a hottie like Zoe, I can\'t really identify with that). He wasn\'t a mighty warrior, or a skilled brigand, or a wanted fugitive, or a respected courtesan. He was a regular likeable guy.

But to quote Morpheus, \"This is a war, we are soldiers... Death can come for us at any time, in any place.\"

God, I\'m a nerd :D
