Yes, Ipaintminis needs your help... Considering the number of posts she has, she surely wants to be a senior beforesummer ends... Well, by exhuming old threads, you too can help her lol

So, this is it:

What have you read (and liked)recently?

I count on Steve to bring us the link to the old thread ;)

For my part, I\'ve just finished Robert Rankin\'s \"Hollow Chocolate Bunnies from the Apocalypse\"... Didn\'t know him... Now I\'ve got to buy all his books... D\'you think I\'m an addict?

Book three of the Wheel Of Time serie by Robert Jordan. I wanted to pick the story back up with book five after a 6-month break from reading WOT books, but I had difficulties getting back into the storyline, so I decided to read the first four books (all 800-1000 page monsters) again. Looks like I\'m going to be reading Robert Jordan for the rest of the year :p

And through the miracle of \'cut and paste\' #1

Best book I ever read: Gormenghast. The third in the series is a bit wobbly but reading Peake is like triggerring a video in your brain.

Most readable author: Terry Pratchett. The UK has just voted 5 of his books in their favourite top 100. Only Dickens (yawn) equals that feat.

Best science fiction(?) Frank Herbert\'s Dune.

Best Sword and sorcery(?) Michael Moorcock. Prolific author. I cut my teeth on him and Stephen Donaldson. Then read LOTR and thought it was crap. Sorry.

Best fantasy(?) William Horwood\'s Duncton Wood series. It\'s all about moles would you believe, but it is an absolute treat for fantasy fans. You will cry your eyes out however. I did. Several times. Check out his new workings of \'Wind in the Willows\', absolutely magical...

Best quick read: Richard Bach\'s Illusions. If you haven\'t read it do so. Will only take you an hour and might (will) change your life.
Also do Johnathan Livingstone Seagull while your at it. Try not to let Neil Diamond\'s crap song put you off.

Biggest heart string puller: Guy Gavriel Kay\'s series The Summer Tree.

Best historical fantasy; Marion Zimmer Bradley Mists of Avalon etc... Buy them..read them.. enjoy them. Feminist view of the Arthurian legends and benefits from that perspective. Feminist in the non-political, goolie-crunching sense.

Best cross-over fantasy (made that up): Julian May\'s extraordinary series that starts off as SF and moves into pseudo-historical fantasy and then back again (several times). The Many Coloured Land

Best comic ever: 2000AD nuff said. Those who know will know those who don\'t proably can\'t get their hands on it. Still buying it weekly 20 years down the line.

And through the miracle of \'cut and paste\' #2

Heh...this easy....:flip:

I can\'t move in my house for books so....to choose would be impossible.....But I will try...

Terry Pratchet is fantastic, easy to read and a delight.

Julian May. Her Many Coloured Land series is great.

Stephen Donaldson. Better than Tolkien IMO/

Philip Pullman, \'His Dark Materials\' series is a MUST!!!

Frank Herbert. A pure genius. And the film IS good! But only if you have read the book

Marion Zimmer Bradley. Get your finger out Dauber

Marquis de Sade. Only for the strong of stomach and heart. I wouldn\'t say he is good however...

Mark Haddon. This will be new to most people, but he has just written a marvellous book called \'The Curious Incident of the Dog and the Night-Time\' It is written fromthe perspective of a young man with Asperger\'s Syndrome (High-functioning autism) and is a real eye opener. It isn\'t hard going at all, I read it in an afternoon and was enchanted.

Dilbert, VIZ, Garfield, 2000AD, Sandman, Preacher, Rackham catalogues, old GW catalogues, porn

I\'m currently reading this weeks TV listings magazine \'What\'s on TV\'. I also enjoy thumbing through the odd \'jazz\' mag, though more for the pictures than the articles.

You\'ll be wanting \'Hatfull of Sky\' now then. (The sequel to WFM).

Yes that was funny, although its still a little formulaic.

Maurice and his amazing rodents was great, something a bit different .

I didn\'t like those two. They don\'t really have the Pratchett humor and except for the Nac Mac Feegle, the characters were uninteresting. And the setting seemed too melancholic. I prefer a story about the wizards or the nightwatchmen anytime.

Currently reading the Larry Laffer book, more or less the novel to \"Love for Sail\". For the n-th time. This book always cracks me up :innocent:

Wow! Now I\'m stuck. Both were great suggestions, but I can\'t decide if I should read Vincegamer\'s \"Shemer Bar Review: Choose to Pass\" or Sturmhalo\'s TV listings magazine \'What\'s on TV\' next.
