RIP

He lived a full life though, no one lives forever. It just matters what you did with your time here. A man that truly lived.

How about all the sherpas who took him to the top of Everest? Bless them, they never get the credit. Still, the man is a legend. He\'d be an even bigger legend if he left his watch at the top and had to go back up for it. Quality :D

The Return of the King extras have a funny bit where he visited the set. Everyone just about slipped in their own drool - it\'s funny to see famous people turning into fanboys themselves ;)

I actually didn\'t know he was a New Zealander. Or this:
He devoted all of his life to helping the Sherpa people of Nepal through the Himalayan trust, which he founded and to which he had given much of his time and energy. Through his efforts he had succeeded in building many schools and hospitals in this remote region of the Himalayas. He was the Honorary President of the American Himalayan Foundation, a United States non-profit body that helps improve the ecology and living conditions in the Himalayas. - Wikipedia

Yeah, he did live a good life considering the first expedition that went up before him has never been found.

Hes had parkinsons for a while now, so hes held off pretty well.

The few kiwis Im with at the moment will all be having a few for him tonight.

How can you not like a dude who, after being one of the first men to conquer on of the world\'s the most unconquerable mountains, described it as: \"we finally knocked the bastard off.\"

He had a good innings.

RIP

This is absolutely not true. He was giving credit to Tenzing every time he spoke in public. In fact, Sir Hillary was coming back to Nepal on many occasions and his fund and him personally did a lot to improve the quality of life in the area - schools, hospitals and things like this.
The fact that most westerners tend to overlook sherpa\'s role in this endeavor reflects mostly on westerns perception of anything non-white non-Christian. Sir Hilary Edmund has nothing to do with this.
