Hi all i finally got this finished today and am fairly happy with the end result,

I decided in the end to add some weathering to the bottom of the cloak and also the lower parts of its clothing though the angle of the photos doesn\'t show that up too well.
Hope you like it and that you may feel the urge to comment on it as well

I can see why you\'re happy with this, turned out nicely. I think the weathering was a good decision, even if it is a bit of a shame to marr that pristine brilliant-red cloak!

Did the vote thing - somewhere between an 8 and a 9 for me.

I\'m also agreeing that you should indeed be happy with this piece - I like it a hell of a lot. My only gripe is that you never went for the cross-dressing wheelchair option. Alas!

Really good work tidoco...as usual.
Could you give me the recipes for the bone and sword blade please?

Sure can mate

Bone
Graveyard Earth base and then just add Bleached Bone into the Base colour all the up to Bleached Bone and then just add white to the bone colour until you have the highlight you are looking for.

Sword Blade
The usual Boltgun Metal, Chainmail Mithril Silver stages but after this was done I then added very heavily diluted glazes in patches of Scorched Brown, Dark Flesh, Scaly Green and Dark Angels Green to give it a more aged look.

I tried the same on the armour but after several attempts the results couldn\'t really be seen so I abandoned that idea.

Thanks. I could have sworn that grey was used in the bone.

Nice to see him finished. I like the pattern on the base a lot. You could tell that something was going on down there in the WIP but I wasn\'t sure what. It looks nice. Definitely puts the skellie in a \'ruined\' setting.

Kudos.

I\'ll let the feller off as he\'s one of my favourite painters, but what an opportunity missed...

The overall look is to your usual standard : great ;)!

But there are a few things that bother me :

*) The non-metalic colors seem to contrast with the work you put into the metals. It gives me a cartoon/artbook vs realism feeling of conflict. What I think is missing are more applied shadows. Zones under his arms (bones, cloth, and cape) could use an extra level of shading IMHO. But I love how the red cape came out tone-wise (it has a great classic fantasy artbook feel to it) and the weathering on the bottom works well for me;
*) Maybe it\'s the pic that lost the colors, but I think that the stone parts are too grey. Greens and browns for moss and dirt would have given the base more details to match the miniature;
*) The vegetation could have used some dark brown wash to bring out the details and desaturate the color.

To sum up my feelings on this mini, I think the skeleton carries a great and dark atmosphere, but some of the color tones and how the shadows are applied seem to lessen that feeling.

Oh, and yeah, a bra was really needed to complete the image :p.

@atacam : Graveyard Earth is disaturated brown, so the grey you\'re seeing is probably coming from that.

Thanks Cedric for you honest input but to answer your critiques on this, this is how I wanted it it to look. I didn\'t want to go for the ultra realistic look and went for the classic old school fantasy look in fact I didn\'t even want to add the staining on the robe.
There are greens and browns in the base the camera failed to pick them up as I think the red of the cloak caught the cameras focus more and the red saturated everything else, but maybe I could have added a bit more.
As for the bra yep definitely next one will be a wheelchair ridden, cross dressing, bi sexual skellie. :D

I believe you hit that fantasy style pretty well - the only thing I\'d like to add is that there could have been a bigger contrast from the spine/ribcage to the clothing - to make the bone stand out a bit more. Other than that I really like it, even with a lack of wheelchair

I think it\'s wicked! I really like the old school style painting on this, it\'s nice to see something this well painted that isn\'t ultra realistic. The blends look very smooth, although I\'d probably take the highlights on the edge of the boots and the straps up just a tiny bit more. Cool stuff though!

im a sucker for skeletons, and this one\'s to die for! a great mini with an amazing color palate that really screams high fantasy. personally i like my skellies dirtier, but i imagine personal hygiene varies as much amongst the undead as it does for the living.
it can be hard to make a skeleton interesting, but this one has character. :beer:
