it would actually be easier if i chosen not to have blue arms, like the frog above, because blue i can blend to oblivion without loosing its... blueness. red turns orange/pink way too fast. and as i must take the blending on the head furhter than the arms obviously to get attention there, it turns ito a real problem :)

nooooooooo blood angels. but as a sidenote i will but that new forgeworld primarch, night lors guy. best sculpt in a long time from them and the chapter suit my style like a glove ;)

I have once tried to go almost pink/white and dark purple in the shadows and after that glaze it over with red. that works ok, might work for you. It is some time since I tried red. not easy to get good if you want a lot of contrast.

Currently painting red on the armor for Cannibal from Stephen Simon (you have the mini). After closely looking at red in various lighting situations, I find its best to simply start out with a standard, true red, and then darken. So the standard red is your highlight. Take it just a bit darker for the mid tone, then finally go dark and darker for the shadows. I believe that Sprocket uses this method.

I may even use oils to strengthen the darker reds, hoping that this makes the standard red look even more like a highlight. All color falls on a spectrum, and it can still have contrast, just a different type. For example, you can paint the opposite of what I described above. Make standard red the darkest red, and lighten with flesh more and more. You still have the contrast, it's just a much pinker and lighter red.

Another option is to what I described in the first paragraph, but have the true red take up more surface area, then go over some of it with VMC white glaze

red belly is red

tweaking a lot back and forth, orange, pink, red-brown, bright violet... red glazes purple glazes. eh! getting pretty hot with some red ink in the process, making him a little bit shiny. i like that. no one will miss this frog when done! :D

Hey Andy we have saunas in Sweden if you come and visit, but most properly you should go to Finland and they would show you how to really use a sauna :)

Otherwise that frogsskin reminds me about summer and myself...

Wow those ducks look really nice! They are the kind of thing though, that if they are off scale even a tiny bit it could hurt your scene.

thanks folks i hope to publish some more photos soon, but as you all know, christmas is coming and time is even more limited

Little crab/ snail using a skull as a house. Awesome base!!
ty, for any other scene its a great idea, but this time all kind of death related stuff are out, so no skullz or swords or bolters etc :)

that is true. i do think they are pretty much in scale with the other animals in the scene. hmm. the worm is big though...! :bulgy-eyes: have to be something mutated hehe

Hey Skelettets, I just finished pouring a pretty big resin water effect base. For my form i used plexiglass, and buffed it with car wax for a release agent. I am going to de-mold it today. I will let you know how it goes.
