Very bright vibrant effect there I feel the back needs a lot more contrast on it (trying to appear knowledgable but I just Swedish translated the hurdi gurdi comment :))

yeah im not really a fan of painting red skin! the back have taken more time to paint than the four blue limbs together.

another backshot

not sure i can increase the contrast much without making him look orange/pink. or breaking the laws of light... ;P

Exactly what I was thinking kretch....
seriously that frog is wicked. Looks great man. Also I have a few figures that you could touch and turn to gold if you don't mind ;)

I'm really enjoying watching this project develop. All the elements look great on their own but together I think they'll be awesome. I particularly like the strong colour choice for the frog and once he is in his natural setting he'll have even more impact!

I think the red looks great but if you wanted to up the contrast maybe you could do it by building up the warm/cool contrast rather than just dark/light. What I mean by that is add some cooler purples tones into the shadows and some warmer yellow/gold tones into the highlights. It's just a thought, as I said I think the red looks great as it is.

Alternatively what about a little green worked into the shadows of both the blue & red as if the frog is reflecting some of the colour from the base.

Heeeeh, poison dart frogs are adorable. And now you can say you've done something few can claim: painted a frog's buttcheeks.

But seriously, he's looking fantastic. Seems like you *could* intensify the shadows on the red if you're dissatisfied with the current level of contrast, particularly since the blue is so high contrast, but he looks pretty freakin' swell as is.

TY friends! :)

solid ideas sprocket very appreciated :good: lets see if i ever get the energy to finish this (as usual, interest in the project fails at 90%...)

some pictures of my water-effect-things so far...

the mould. following the advice of 10ball (!) i used cable ties instead of elastic band, worked very well. Stole some chocks from jr for support, as the hardening reaction generate some heat and will untimately bend the plasticard

and lucky i did as the card gave up on one side, pure f#cking luck that the water had harden enough before it happened otherwise it had been more or less a disaster. lesson learned, next time even more support!

"the cube" so far, quite a heavy chunk of water effect. i used in total 7 dl of water effect in here (about 1,5 pint... or something) very raw atm and i have lots of fun in front of me sanding and polishing this thing noooooooooot

i used p74 clear plastic for water this time and it worked like a charm, it harden rock solid after 24 hours and to me much better than clear resin. only downside is that it smells terrible and it smell a lot before it harden.

Wicked cool! I've really gotten my eyes up for water effects, going to try some - at a smaller scale, though.

The base looks like it's going to be amazing. I'm in awe of anyone with the nerve it must take to pour resin over something that's taken such care to create.

One day I'll try this myself ... but not today!

I was worried for you with this. Base looked beautiful before the water, i was dreading the water mix going wrong and wrecking it.

really looking forward to seeing the finished base.

Looks good! I bet it's heavy... I heard you could paint on some water effect and it would self level so you could avoid sanding. Might be worth testing a patch before you break out the belt sander :)

The other thing I personally have had good luck with was plastic polishing paste on a buffer wheel mounted on my electric hand drill to a get a really nice final sheen.

On my skeleton project I used a heat gun to melt and heal some of my chipped resin parts... I don't think I can recommend that, but if you get very desperate for some reason it might be worth a cautious try.

yeah i use finer and finer sandpaper at the end P2000 like sanding with toilet paper. then it usually works with a layer of gloss varnish. but yeah, ill wear a mask for sure!!

yeah, already used some of the clear resin i had left for filling in som airbubbles on the sides, i discovered thats one of the major problems with filling up WE in layers, at the surface, on the sides, there are lots of bubbles in a line.
