Space Marines: IRL

I read recently that in WW2 it cost something like $140.00 (In todays dollars)to equip a soldier ready for D-Day.Today a soldier going to Iraq it costs around $28,000 for the basic infantryman. They say in 5-10 years it might cost $100K or more..

I can only imagine what a suit like that would cost. But its pretty killer.

I realize it is most likely quite a ways from implementation, but that was so surreal...

The future is closer that we think!

Man...and I thought Gundams were fictional. IF this is possible, give it a couple of years and will see the entire US army troopers, piloting moblie suits.

The one looked like Robocop. This would be great for police officers as well. Those 38 French officers wounded this week could have used this kind of protection.

Having served in the US infantry, I would have loved to run around in this thing!!

Would have love having this for those Bridge Exs. Looks like they still have to get hand/finger controls/surfaces right thou. And jump packs.

Looks like the military is getting closer to Hienman\'s <sp?>vision in \'Starship Troopers\'

That\'s because soldier at D-Day = expendable conscript. Soldier today = \"warfighter\". There\'s a lot less public will to sacrifice lives in the 21st century\'s military escapades.

Thats right! You gotta keep public support high as most of the wars we fight today are a bit more confusing than GOOD GUY vs. BAD GUY.

here we go......
I think it\'s time we moved away from the concept of good and bad. We should be looking at complete hypocritical warmongers vs puppets that can\'t be justified or tolerated or have out lived their usefulness.
Ain\'t it funny how most of our technological advances come directly from military programs.
Good bless the military for giving us the CMON forums. Now who we gonna invade next:drool:
