Spamalot!

I went to see Monty Python\'s Spamalot in Detroit last night. I\'m glad that I didn\'t read the program during the show, because act II had a lot of unexpected stuff that wouldn\'t have been quite so surprising if I had known the song names / locations. Overall, I enjoyed the show quite a bit, but I wonder what someone who wasn\'t a veteran Python fan would have thought.

Has anyone here seen it? Do you think the non-MP initiated would enjoy it?

I haven\'t seen the actual show, but my daughters love the music, so I\'ve listened to it many times.

Also, I can\'t say I am a Monty Python fan either...I am only vaguely aware of most of it, and actually watched the Quest for the Holy Grail one just recently because of the music....I couldn\'t see what the hubbub was about...it was long and excrutiatingly boring....

But...I enjoy the music from Spamalot and it is funny to listen to.

Yeah, I found out from that map thing we all did a while ago that you are my closest local CMONer, Wolf Fang. I\'m only about 30 minutes from Detroit, right down I-94.

@Vike: I still don\'t understand the chemistry of what makes one a Python fan or not. Most of the fans I know latched on in their teens. Holy Grail is considered top of the heap by most, so if you found that boring then it\'s probably safe to skip the rest. Except maybe \"Life of Brian\"... it is far and away the best narrative structure of the movies and is a significant divergence from the chaotic sketch structure.

To be fair swedes, fins, norse and all the other lot from up there are just as weird as we are. They just have the decency not to try to take over the world like we did :D everyone needs a hobby :D

We tried to take the world too, but gave up on it a bit sooner than you Brits did! ;)

I thought you lot just became \'the Brits\' to a large extent?

Supervike..you are a Philistine!

No, it\'s not just a British thing... I\'m a huge fan of Monty Python and Quest for the Holy Grail is indeed one of their best efforts... except possibly for the Fish Slapping Dance. lol
You will be pleased to know that a variation on the fish slapping dance is included in Spamalot (in lieu of the \"a moose once bit my sister\" stuff in the opening credits of the movie.)
