steam dreadnought - conversion

Into the valley of death rode the six hundred, cannon to the left of them, cannon to the right of them...

And in other news, Professor Moriarty (Before he banged his head and went evil) today unveiled his new invention - the Steam-powered-walking-cannon!
It was Christened today by her royal majesty queen Victoria and officially named HMS Titan. However, unfortunately, as the bottle hit the side of the magnificent beast, a pipe ruptured and the machine exploded, killing the unfortunate pilot and injuring several people. Her majesty was saved from harm by a brave chimney sweep, who was thrown in front of her as the machine exploded.

Wow...incredible stuff there Decoy!

I love it.

You say the right hand is made from styrofoam? Is it a special kind or something? I\'m thinking of the crumbly kind used as inserts in computer boxes...

Could you explain?

Thanks Vike :)
Yes -you are right. I prefer this kind because in comparison with GW s-foam it is more dense. But you need very sharp blade for working :)

I am amazed at the fact you use styrofoam...

Do you also sand it smooth? Could you show us some work in progress pictures of how it is done?

I love the idea.

I love the idea.

It is dense enought and not need sanding
I will try to explain my work with styrofoam in this microtutorial:

All what you need is good piece of s-foam, sharp razor and white glue. I think the process is simle - firstly you cut parts of \"future megaarmor\")) secondly - glue them and give time. Painting is usual.
With s-foam modelling is very easy thing. This Ogre hat was made in two-three hours ))

Hope that my English was correct ))

Thats gotta be the best use of styrofoam EVER!

Amazing that it dosn\'t just break apart, do you seal it with the pva glue before you paint it?

.. psy

Good question! Sometimes , because some types of s-foam are dense enough and not need covering with pva

You can\'t prime it with spray primer unless you seal it with something first, right?

You are right ;) It will be eaten in seconds
I use brush or aerograph for large models..

MAN! First ..and last..time I used styrofoam it looked like it\'d been snowing inside!
Screw that for a game of soldiers..
But thats a hella amazing talent you got!

And for those of you about to attempt this feat..I salute you!
:]

Thank you very much Decoy...that did answer my questions about it.

I am most impressed by this, as I assumed to have great results with something, you\'d have to start with high dollar materials.

The steam dreadnought alone is an amazing piece of work, but couple that with the fact that it was partially built with materials most folks think is garbage truly inspires me.

Thanks again!

Sculpting with styrofoam... Blimey.
It\'ll be old loo roll tubes and sticky back tape next...

\"And here\'s a Ordo Xenos Inquisitor lord I made earlier...\"

You are welcome, Vike :)
I think no matter how cheep or \"garbageous\" s-foam is. It is simple in modelling so the simplier the better ;)
