I wanted to know...

What is the Slayer Sword for you? No, I know it\'s a big sword and all... lol

I mean, is it a \"Best of Show\" Award, or an award given for the work showed over the years?

It\'s the best of show award chosen from all the gold scoring minis except youngbloods and open.

So Opens can\'t win a Sword? Has to be a Games Workshop to walk away with the grand prize, huh?

or rather, it has to be a gamesworkshop not walking away with the prize, as GW staff are only allowed to enter in this catagory. Also, anyone who won a sword could only enter in this catagory, though they repealed that.

The slayer sword is the ultimate award in fantasy mainature painting. It shows deidication, skill - both with a brush and with the imagination. It is an award for both best of show and the deidaction an individual puts in to achieve mastery of the hobby.

In my opinion anyway :D

I don\'t think that an emplyee has ever ever won the sword. EX Employees have won AFTER they have let and stoped working for GW though.

why ope couldnot win?

why open category could not win?...that is not correct because I have seen a gorkamorka diorama that won slayer sword (category open) in an uk golden demon.
another question: why a games workshop cannot win an slayer sword?..i think that is not justice because if the entry of a gw staff is the best of show....why it cannot wins??!!!!!.
for me a slayer sword is the award that deserves the best mini or diorama in a golden demon event..and I wanna win a slayer sword one day...it is one of my dreams...but I think it is so so so difficult.......:(

GW aren\'t stopping their staff from entering the golden daemon categories because they think they would automatically win and are better than everyone else. They are stopping them because if they did win, people may acuse GW of favouritism or bias

The Gorkamorka diorama that won the Slayer Sword was not from the Open. The diorama in question (1998 and by Nigel Carman) was the gold winner in the Battle Scene category.

I agree that GW staff should not be able to compete for the sword. Less because they are \'better\' but because of all the \'it\'s fixed\' comments that would arise. Instead there is the \'ultimate challenge\' of the Open.

Definately want one of those swords to hang on my wall one of these days.
