Its Winter Solstice like it or not
Christmas day to Epiphany.
Western orthodox christmas and eastern orthodox christmas. 2 different calendars and 2 different days to supplant that celebration of Winter Solstice. Now usually advent in most churches that celebrate the 12 days of christmas.
But Winter Solstice is the celebration of the shortest day of the year, the prospect of rebirth and regrowth. Slap whatever you want on there, it\'s all related to the spinnin of this big rock we call the earth.

Do you mean Advent? That\'s the 40 days leading up to Christmas day in the Catholic Church. Like Lent being the 40 days leading to Easter. Part of the Medieval Church trying to fill the year with holy days.
