This has absolutely nothing to do with minis and is just something that came up recently. I think a lot of people don\'t know the answer.

What are the 12 days of Christmas?

Well, I tried to edit the first one but failed so accidentally ended up with 2 polls. I\'m hoping the other one just gets ignored.

So this is the real thread? I\'m in the right place?

Yeah I was pretty sure Christmas was yet another pagan festival stolen by the fledgling christian faith, at least they renamed it, unlike Easter which is of course named after Eastre the Norse god of spring...

My understanding is it was an early Church attempt to replace the Roman festival of Saturnalia (which was marked by extended visits to brothels).

Jesus was born and that day plus the next eleven equal 12, which is the day the wise men, not kings, arrived with gifts. Most likely Jesus was born in the Spring. Pagans celebrated winter solstice so the Church stole their holiday.

For some reason I remember the date April 4th, 4BC as the actual birth date...
I\'ve never heard anyone had gotten the day that narrowly. I recall from college history classes that it was calculated to be Spring, and somewhere between 6 and 4 B.C.E. (obviously couldn\'t be B.C. that would be impossible):D

You\'ve pretty much got it covered. And the date confusion is compounded by the switch to the current calendar (Julian?) from it\'s predicessor (Gregorian?) Something like 180 days just dissapeared.
