Nope -

But I spent a rocket attack sitting on top of the bunker watching planes land at night because there was a 6 foot cobra in the bunker. The KBR Security dude couldnt understand why we didnt want to go into the bunker -

How the Hell could you miss a 15ft snake and end up stepping on it...?? lol

Easy for us Brits (Who only have the slightly poisonous adder) to forget that countries with REALLY poisonous snakes and spiders, etc still have non-harmful ones too :p

I have never ever seen a snake in the wild, dont know how I\'d react if it was a 15 ft jobie I think I would run screaming and flapping my hands around (being very gracefull at the same time obviously)

i have had dozens of close encounters with poisonous snakes. mostly brown snakes.

australia is rife with them and i used to live near sugar cane farms.

i haven\'t been bitten though. it usually takes a good fright to get a snake to bite you. usually.

i mate was freaked out by a snake and ran from the tree line to the ocean, thinking it wouldn\'t follow him. it didn\'t but he got a nasty blue bottle jellyfish sting for his trouble. lol

Never been bitten but I\'m fairly familiar with snakes.

Where I lived in Missouri was very snake populated. There were so many that it wasn\'t uncommon to see them going into the school.

My favourite place to go, a small park on the Big River, had a natural, rocky pier goinga 100 feet out into the river. I love rivers and in particular this one was great for skipping rocks. It just happened to be home to multitudes of copperheads. One time I got bored and counted how many copperheads I stepped over/around on my way to the end of the pier... 84. Never even had them get angry with me. I wasn\'t afraid. they weren\'t afraid. Back to business.

Only bitten by a garter snake (harmless) and a black racer (but I had gloves on so he couldn\'t reach me).

I\'ve had close encounters with copperheads, cotton mouths, diamondbacks and sidewinders. Of the lot, cotton mouths and sidewinders are the worst, they are very curios and territorial, so they will come to you to see what you are doing.

PPFFFTTTTT you people have it easy. Unless we are bitten in the car park of the hosptital with a paramedic team ready with the anti venom then your a dead man.

I think Oz has the 21 snakes in the top 25 deadliest snakes in the world.

When we were kids me and my 4 younger bros used to go snake and lizard hunting. We use to dare each other to catch the biggest snake. When i was 10 i was trying to catch a six foot tiger snake. They splay there neck like a cobra. I was trying the snake charm trick and got careless. the snake had a go and scratched the back of my hand.

neadless to say I ended up in hospital for about a week and I was crook for a couple of months after than. Once I was better we hunted that snake and cut it into a hundred pieces. Ive never touched a snake since.

We used to g out to the swamp and cathc hog-nosed snakes to sell them to pet stores. (I grew up in the country, what?) So yeah, I have been bitten a time or two, though the snakes usually didn\'t live long after that:flame:

When i was 8 or 9 yrs old, I was bit by a baby rattle snake (most likely a diamondback according to the docs I gave the description to) in the wild life preserve across from our street. Contrary to popular belief, baby snakes are not more venomous/ have stronger venom, they just dump all the venom they have since they haven\'t learned how much is needed for what size animal. Since it was a baby it didn\'t have any rattle and we (the other 8-9 yr old and I) thought it was safe to pick up. : /

Since we had snuck out of our babysitters house to go walk around down there, I was trying to hide the bite after we got back. Due to the swelling and my hand and forearm turning dark purple I got found out after a few minutes of getting back. : ) Then I was off to be stuck with a bunch of needles (I haven\'t been bothered by needles since). That is were I found out that for the amount of venom in my system it would take a year to work all the way out and even if I was \"...bitten in the car park of the hosptital with a paramedic team ready with the anti venom...\" (thank Ogrebane) I would be dead from even just a little bit more venom. That was a bit scary to hear as an 8-9 yr old.

I still love snakes though. : ) I just wish my parents could find the pics of my arm. My hand was like two inches thick (approx. 5 centimiters if I remember my conversions), my fingers were all bent up crazy, and I was all kinds of swollen to my shoulder, and deep dark purple bruise color to my elbow. It was my dominant hand which made learning to write cursive very interesting. : )
