Kewl model!

Dunno how much you know off maahveeens and stuff, but the mkvi plate was a slapdash armor composed of inferior layers of armor riveted together and the strengthend with these large bulbs.

Hi trys i realise this doesnt go with the original paint scheme but i think it looked better with just the white racing stripe on the helmet also the edges arent really razor sharp if you are going to do the striped pattern i would mask it up, other than that keep doing what your doing enjoy your break.
P.s. if you have the time i would drill small counter sunk holes in the shoulder studds where you have them marked and then just wash a black ink into them might look better than if you just paint em on. Fine bore dremmel bit wouldnt take a miniute to do.

Cass - The stripe was masked haha. I do need to clean it up a bit still. That's a good idea about the studs though. I will definitely look into it when I get back. I think the issue with the stripe is that the sections are too wide. More smaller blocks would look better. I agree about the white stripe, though I'm not sure how I could go back now.

Will the white stripe continue on down to his nose like on his little brother (since that was the RT standard)?

Sorry for the lack of response. Was in Colorado on vacation (and coincidentally a self imposed electronics-minus-phone ban).

Khavor - not sure about the stripe. I may have to mock it a bit.

The good part about being away for a week is it gives mail time to catch up. I got back to 3 new KD toys AND my box from E2046. I don't have pics up (too late tonight to bother), but if the rest of their stuff is as good a cast as the fig I got, E2046 is awesome. Resin is smooth, no flash or miscasts, and the detail is awesome. It's going to be a blast to assemble and paint.

Oh yeah - I also seem to have managed to get engaged during the above mentioned vacation. Yay!

Gonna chime in here love the bigature and what your doing with it. The blue is great excellent smooth job done there. White rivets yep like em but you know what Im gonna say the stripe.......meh. Loose the black stripes.

Engaged congrats!! Maried life is pretty damn cool especialy if she lets you paint and paint.

Mine is fine about it as long as I paint down stairs were she can see me and talk to me (just dont tell her how much you spend on the hobby word to the wise and all;))

Well consensus here confirms what I've been thinking - the black stripes should go. I am going to stop by the art store for some white (or near white) oils, as well as liquid masking. I'll see if I can get the black covered without adding thickness, or else it's plan b. I am also going to see how taking it down the beak looks.

A quick trip to the art store got me some titanium white oil, some gloss varnish and some liquid mask. So when I get home I can try it with oil, and wipe it off if I don't feel it. I just hope it will work over the black or I'll have to start wet sanding.

Hit it with gray first and the white will cover easier. ;)

I had nothing but fits when I tried liquid mask but Einion gave me some great advice. Don't put it on in thin layers! Slap that stuff on good and thick otherwise its a nightmare to try to remove. Drove me bat-shit crazy - and unfortunately I found out that little secret after all was said and done. ;)

Thanks Kath. That's exactly what I did - a base of the new GW Ulthuan Grey, followed by a light coat of P3 Morrow White.
