I\'m having real problems with doing NMM on a space marine shoulder pad.

FLAT surfaces don\'t seem to be MUCH of a problem (Swords etc)

But there are loads of articles on swords, axes etc

I\'m wondering if someone could do a tutorial on doing NMM on a CURVED surface - such as the space marine pad I\'m having difficulty with.

Colours aren\'t the issue, just how to make it look metallic! lol

Cheers in advance if anyone takes up the challenge :p

The nearest thing that I can find is over on necrotales. Kep does a space wolf and the second step briefly covers nmm armor.
HereThis won\'t help either. It\'s in french.

DaN,
Not a full blown tutorial----but if you break surfaces down into the four basic shapes, it\'ll help to visualize how the highlighting should be done--

So, cube, cylinder, cone, and sphere.

The shoulder pad is simply a partial cross-section of a sphere....so, the shoulder pad would be highlighted akin to the sphere.

These are tough surfaces, because to pull them off you\'ve got to diffuse the highlight a little more than you\'re accustomed to.

Any art reference on the four shapes and how light hits them will tell you how to highlight it. The metallic look will come with the gradient/contrast---from a black value up to a white value (as a general rule).

That help at all?
