Under the Big Top [ circus maximus ] [Barbarian Chariot done (#14)]

This is going to be a three-chariot project. They aren\'t related in any way other than I have three in my pile of lead that I\'m not going to use, so I thought I\'d paint them all up for the fun of it, and then send them off to new homes.The three teams for this mighty chariot competition are Orcs, Barbarians, & Undead.

First up- Orcs. GW Plastic from the 6th Ed box.

And after tonight\'s session [while watching TED videos], I\'ve got most of the meat of these figs done, just need to flesh out all the detail bits:

Suggestions on the boar colors? I\'m thinking black actually...

I really like what I did on this guy (another stray I found in the same box), but not sure if I should stay in theme, or do a different fur color for the chariot\'s boars:

Really nice looking so far, I like the Dun colour of the skin vs. the traditional black. One Nitpick though, the Circus Maximus was open aird, nobig top.

After doing the chariot, lots of wood and leather etc, I got tired of browns, so the boars get a (brownish )-black.

The Orcs are done! (more photos when the whole project is done). Now I start on the Barbarians (which aren\'t as nice models as I remembered, but oh well.)

yeah I agree the ork skin is really cool, saddly it doesnt seem to show up as much in this last picture (compared to the first few) for some reason.

You made me wanna paint up some orks, and Ive never wanted to do that

The orc skin is done with Militia Brown by Derivan. Worked up with less and less black until its pure Militia brown. Then a tiny bit of ivory added for highlights, then a VGC Sepia Ink for shading.

And their special guest addition to the crew arrived in the mail today, so I\'m getting her prepped as well. The chariot was re-drilled to accept either the bowman or the spearlady as the passenger depending on what you want for a particular game.

Used a hair dryer to soften the resin and straighten her spear shaft, so I\'m a lot happier with this cast now. Had to go a little Red Sonja on her, since I just saw the promo material for the forth coming movie today.

Just need to touch up a few things and Sonja is done. I\'ve already finished her jewels, lips, and eyes after snapping this pic this evening. This is a great fig I must say.
