It might just be the angle, but the sculpting looks a bit soft and doughy to me. Something done as an \'interview\' or folio piece?

I agree with you on the peasant\'s \'dough-i-ness\', but the warrior priest is fairly sharp, except maybe for the thick pages of the book.
