Vallejo Plastic Putty

My husband just picked me up a bottle of Vallejo\'s Plastic Putty #400 (199).

Now what?......

Anybody have any idea what to do with this stuff? I\'m an experienced modeler who\'s used to their putty coming out of a tube! Not a paint bottle.. Has anyone ever used it? Any recommendation or examples?

Well I\'ve never heard of any putty sold in anything but a ribbon so I\'m even more surprised by the purchase :D

Is it workable like regular green stuff style putty, or what? I can\'t see it being anything different from toothpaste, but that\'s just the complete inexperience with it talking :p

I\'m hazarding a guess . . .

Methinks you paint it over a seam - as in a plastic model seam - for example where two pieces of plane fuselage leave unfilled gaps at the join line. The putty should fill the gap but would require sanding after to smooth it out . . . that kind of thing . .
It doesn\'t say on the label or describe it\'s use?
(I doubt very much it\'s a sculpting compound given it\'s description)

Nothing on the label except the old painting shake well stuff.

But yeah that what I kinda figured..I wonder if anybody has actually ever tried it or has any hints about it.

plastic ptty

Hi

I have some of this, but haven\'t used it. It\'s been recommended for filling small gaps but also for \'painting\' raised detail on a figure - needs experimenting!

putty

it is essentially the same as the testors white filling putty only a little more liquified
it is used for filling tiny gaps/seams and can be quite handy, in general I prefer the testors though as it is easier to manipulate. put it in smooth it with a wet blade or tool let it dry(ususally overnight) sand it or shave it with a knife. voila. The testors verion is also amazing for attatching slotta figs to bases as it fills in around the tab. I have also used it to texture the tops of bases before.

Thanks, I\'ll be trying it on a mini where the mold didn\'t quite fill with metal. Hopefully it\'ll fill the pits.

Peace.

Unlike the Testor\'s putty, the vallejo putty is a water based acrylic putty.

Put a heavy line on a seam, let dry for a few seconds, then wipe with a damp brush. Fills cracks and other items wonderfully. Any excess can be scraped off.

You can probably mix it with paint for other uses/effects.
