Virago WIP part III

haven\'t painted much these past two years since work and going out left me too exhausted to paint. But Sumer is here and I feel like painting again !! So here\'s the little mini that I\'ve been doing, helped along by Jeremie ( a great teacher he is). Critics and advice welcomed, praises too if you feel like it

the face is still WIP, some things need fixing on it. and the hair isn\'t done. And I shall be redoing the sleeves, they are hell to do and horrible right now. Any advice on possible color is welcomed I was thinking light blue or deep purple but not sure....

Beautiful stuff, that tunic/waistcoat (not sure which!) looks absolutley spot on. The face is looking great too, and will be cool to see him finished.

As for sleeves I would personally go for pale blue.

Part II

Ok so I finnished the little guy this morning and started working on the base. So far it\'s only basecoated in charadon granit ( which I liked so much that I just had to spill it all over my other paint pots :cussing: )

I\'m still not to happy with the sleeves, but if I do them again I\'m likely to end up in a mad house so it\'ll stay that way, well I might touch it up but nothing major.

Coments are as always welcomed

the idea for the base is that he\'s waiting by the road waiting for someone .

The only thing that I feel lets the piece down are the feet/ whole lower legs. They look a much darker colour than the toes, as if they are the same colour as the hairy tops of the feet.

If the model were mine, I would paint the shins and ankles the same flesh colour as the other flesh areas, and also (dare I say it?!) maybe even drybrush the hairs on the top of the frrt to bring out the texture a bit more.

I am liking the base, but can\'t help but feel that the log would benefit from some grey/khaki highlights to help it stand out a bit more.

As i thought yes i like the base looks awsome

I think the lower legs are the right colour but just under shadow?

I agree with the comment regarding the log, needs more definition,

I might be slightly crazy but is look like it has been raining where Yarri is standing perhaps some water effect puddles on the road?

Well, here\'s my next mini, I had a hell of a time getting hold of this one. It was donated to me by yannick Gerber so big thanks to him
Picture already allowed me to pic up a couple of things that need to be fixed. I swear the eyes are going to drive me mad, I redid them 10 times, and they look alright IRL but they look horrible on the pics, so back to square one for that one. Anyway here you go :

Made some progresse on the girl, not as fast as I would like, been distracted by other things (damn computer games :cussing: ). Here\'s where I\'m at:

Eyes are better, but not perfect, but no way in hell am I touching them again Cloth and skin and bronze are done. I\'ll probably be doing the gems and the dead face tonight.
Any tip for the fur is appreciated, I\'m not really sure how to do it. oh, and do you think pale blue would go well on the lips, I\'m tempted

@larre: Yes great mini, and automaton\'s version is nice, I\'ve been using mathieu\'s version my self ahas inspiration

there are so many versions of Virago that is worthy a closer look

however... the thing that is bothering me tm is the face...
I think it might need some more contrast, and some redish tones on the cheeks...

Some more work yeasterday, did the Gems witch are always a b*tch to do, and the dead head is almost done, metals I though they were done, but they kinda look crap on the pic, advice on that is welcomed.

@larre: you\'re right about the red on the cheek, but it\'s somthing i usually do as a finnishing touch, kinda of a ritual I\'ll try to get osme more contrast in though.
