WATCHMEN release

The movie\'s out! I think there haven\'t been any recent threads on it so here it is...

I decided not to read the graphic novel and wasn\'t that psyched about the movie (even after the trailer was released) but some friends hyped it up and I saw it last night. I felt like it was too long but they couldn\'t have made it nearly as powerful and BRILLIANT if it hadn\'t been. You can tell how perfect the source material must\'ve been just from watching. Very, very good film.

The book is great, you really should read it. I\'m hoping to go see the film w/ James when I\'m in London - seems like it\'s one of those films we really should see together.

Me and laura are going to see the 23.30 showing at the Imax after Salute. Can\'t wait.
I\'v read the graphic novel, and from what I\'v heard the film stays pretty true to it, only cutting out some bits. (Like the Tales of the Black Freighter.) But these extra bits have been released on DVD.

Peace and love...

I missed the premiere because I was ill, but now I have tickets to see it next monday with my gf.

The book is maybe the best graphic novel I\'ve ever read and I\'m dying to see the film.

I\'ve loved Watchmen since I first read it (ahem) MANY years ago.

I will have to try and go see it at the cinema. The reviews have been positive on the whole.

I am waiting for it to come out on DVD. I do not feel like paying $20 to see a movie while idiots talk on their phones, text, and let their supid retarded babies cry and babble if I can use that $20 to buy it when it comes out on DVD and watch it as much as I want without any distractions.

When was the last time you went out to a theatre? It\'s almost never that bad. Also, you would have been AMAZED at the number of retarded babies at last night\'s showing! Utterly ridiculous how many couples bring their offspring to 10:30 showings! :D

Second, I\'ve never spent close to $20 on a ticket and I live in Canada\'s biggest city. Movie snacks are just extra and aren\'t needed to enjoy a film like Watchmen, if that\'s what you\'re getting at.

What am I getting at...? See this movie in theatres, it\'s worth the possible wait in line, it\'s worth the 20 dollar tickets, it\'s worth waiting till after for a bathroom break...

Just got back from the theater.

I\'ve been a huge Watchmen fan since i first read it back in the 80\'s....

Pretty faithful to the book....They did a good job of capturing the essence of the story.

There\'s a few changes, but not so terrible as to ruin anything.

Rorshach, in both graphic novel, and film, steals the show...

Not an enormous fan of the Watchmen book. It was decent enough, but I am a bigger fan of too many books to call it one of my fav\'s.

I will check out the movie because I could care less if they stay faithful to the book so I think I\'ll wind up enjoying it more then if I had a lot of expectations.

Zack Snyder stayed pretty true to \"300\", although there was much less dong\'s in his movie (I am totally cool with THAT!) so I think he may make his mark as the comic book guy in hollywood.

I\'ve just come from seeing this, and as a huge fan of the book, I\'m pleasantly surprised to say that I very much enjoyed it, despite the changes that they made to simplify the story for movie purposes.

Billy Crudup - Doctor Manhattan - blew me away. I\'d always imagined the character\'s voice as being otherworldly and sounding vaguely like an echo-chamber was involved. But his soft-spoken, blase delivery of his lines worked far better than anything I could have imagined for his character\'s growing detachment from humanity.

Silk Spectre started off seeming like a somewhat annoying character, but before the movie was half over, had won me over.

The fight scenes were, in my opinion, excellently executed, believable for the most part, and illustrated very well what a brutal species we humans are, under our civilized veneers.

I\'m looking forward to renting the DVD of \'The Black Ship\', which was released on the 6th, and is the film detailing the \'graphic novel within a graphic novel\'. I\'m also hoping that it will contain (crossing my fingers, because I haven\'t researched it at all, yet) more of the normal human civilian interactions by the news stand from the graphic novel.

On the whole, I give it a solid 8/10.

Come to california and you will see $10 movie tickets. It is $20 for me since I am paying for the GF.

No there are no babies at 10:30pm but there are stupid teenagers that cannot turn their phones off because they think they are important.

The only movie that I am not sure if I can wait until it comes out of DVD is Terminator: Salvation. I may have to break my rule for that one.

Great movie!

I never heard of the graphic novel before but a friend of mine told me some months ago and so I bought it. I couldn\'t stop reading because it was so fascinating and all characters were so interesting. So after the novel I was really curious how the movie would be. I watched the movie on friday and I must admit I had some doubts about the conversion. But the doubts were causeless, all characters are really good realised and the story stays very near to the novel. :)
They only simplified some scenes and ignored some details or minor characters. The only big change is the end, but I have to admit, I liked the idea of the ending in the movie more than in the novel!

I would recommend this movie to all who red the novel and liked it. But even without knowing the novel I would recomment it to everyone who like strange stories and bizarre characters. ;)
If you only want to look this movie to enjoy some simple action, I would suggest to watch something else!

Couldn\'t give a toss about the comic... never read it (or looked at the pictures), nor am I someone who pretends to have done so way back even though if it was that good I would have spoken about it sooner...

BUT...

I saw this on Friday at the Odeon in Leicester square and it\'s bloody brilliant! I don\'t care how true to the book it is (honestly, how well can a film be true to dead trees?) but it had all the things to make a great film and was not afraid to portray violent action properly and reduce viewing numbers by getting an 18 cert.

too many films recently have been 12a or 15 so it\'s good to have a proper film to make you think.

9.7/10 from me
