Welcome.

I am fairly new to painting but the little I have done I have used 2 types.
GW and Vallejo.
GW Cons: Crappy paint pots that make it hard to get just a little and a lot of them get dried up because they are open in the air a lot.
GW Pros: Cheap and easy to get references to them because they are so common.
Vallejo Cons: A bit more expensive where I live. But not much.
Vallejo Pros: The squirty bottles are the best. Easy to use and get a little bit of paint. Perfect for minis.
Go for Vallejo, I use Model Colors, just cuz I like darker colors.
Hope that helps.

Granddad!
Vallejo should be cheaper
VMC:17ml for £1.45
GW :12ml for £1.75
you do the math

oh yeah, not to mention a higher pigment content in the Vallejo\'s

Well, I\'ve only ever used Ceramcoat craft paints (from Wal-Mart) and Vallejo Model colors. I must say, the Vallejo\'s are definately superior! And I don\'t know what I did before I got the VMC Smoke. That stuff rulez!

:D

Answer is simple, buy what works for you.

Obviously cheap paints and minis are not gonna help you any, but after a point its a waste spending more, look at EricJ: GW brushes, paints and water and he can do THIS

If it\'s not a matter of price, use GW,i think it\'s the best for the blending layering technic.
The Vallejo Model Colors is crap, avoid it.

I use mostly GW and Vallejo Model Color.. for me Vallejos are the best paints, but it depends on it what style you like. IMO you should have paints from Vallejo and gw- both firms have few great colours..

sorry for OT

Cyril, did my emails about mini arrived ? Please reply me at szymonl@vp.pl ..

Paint Whore, at your service

I\'ve easily got over 500 bottles of paint. Almost all of the Reaper Pro Paints, rebottled in droppers. I had almost all of the Reaper Masters, `til they came out with about a dozen more. Ditto for Vallejo Game Color. Quite a few Vallejo Model colors. A smattering of GW, Adikolor (hey, it was free...), Ceramicolor and Apple Barrel (terrain paints), tube acrylics, etc.

IMHO, it doesn\'t freaking matter what you use. It\'s not the paint you use, it\'s how good you are with the stuff. Now, granted, if your methods and skill level are fairly low, better paint will give you better results.

BUT - the thing that will make the biggest difference in how your stuff looks is not the paint you use but how hard you work at learning to paint well and practicing those techniques until they are second nature. Period.

I was thinking about doing the same. Any tips on what droppers to use (plastic or glass etc) or how to transfer the paint?

Cheers.

I bought most of my bottles from Western Plastics. Reaper also sells empty dropper bottles for their paint.

As far as getting the paint in the bottles, I just pour it in. Though I\'d suggest you get the freshest paint you can and run a toothpick through it first, to pull out any paint clumps.
