White ...

Been working on getting smooth white highlights...

Main figure is Soim or something - some sort of warrior priest chappy.

He should have some sort of floating torch thing, but I didn\'t like it, so I left it off.

The helmet is a marine medic (Apothecary).

I just wanna know if the whites

the whites look smooth enough - only a few places like the front of the loin cloth it looks like the paint went a little thick.

Have you used washes or just blending/layering?

i would wash the grey over the white again, and see where the shadows are, and then give the white another go...
it may seem like doin\' the whole thing over, but if ya keep the wash thin enough, it will just help to clear up the small mistakes(like where a highlight is too fat)...
i can see that the back could use some more white anyway...
the drapes flowin\' down to the ground look great...

i like the idea of the red cross on the back of the apothecary\'s helmet...i\'ve never seen anyone bother to do that, but it makes so much sense...

mold lines are the enemy!!!

Cheers guys

@Manus - yeah I did the arm cloth first, so the loin cloth is still to do, so that\'s probably the roughest area

@Jah - Which parts are you talking about washing over?

I figured if there\'s ONE person you wanna be able to recognise on the field of battle, it\'s the medic...

dan, in future use thin controlled washes for shading white and then tweek highlights as needed.

try to avoid grey, white is usualy based around a colour (blue, yellow etc) just give a hint of it in the shadows and it\'s job done.

if you want to take it a step further then use a teeny tiny amount of black in with the white to shade and then use coloured glazes for tonal change. (Jeremie does this superbly)

lastly, the less you do with white the easier it is to paint and get looking good.

@the generul: his greys do look like they lean toward the blue range...
personally i should have said midtone instead of grey maybe...
i describe colours in such general terms, that my friends swear i\'m colourblindlol...

@dan: the robe needs work across the face, and where it drapes over the arms and around the back...ya already know about the loincloth...

cheers
