Ok it\'s been a will since I haven\'t painted so i just started a small mini to get back into it. Here are some WIP shots of it if you could give me some advice to improve that would be great :D And any sugestion for base and color in wich to paint the arms are welcome :D
Oh and if any living encyclopidea like finn hapens to read this, I don\'t know the name of the mini so if I could get some help there too :p

Ok to be honest I think that you\'d made yourself a harder task because of the strength of the \"Blacklining\".
Personally I\'m a Black Primer guy so I don\'t have that problem, but everything you are doing is going to have to work the black down into the base colour.

However I would suggest that you increase the highlights of the face to include the lower jawline. (As it is he looks like he\'s just wiped muck off his face).

Its not much but I hope that it helps a bit. :)

i thought you said you primed black anyway?

i like the blue...but with only what 2 minis on the site, i dont think im worthy to give out help, but i agree with DR on the skin highlights, but i have the same problem :D

I belive that\'s one of the \"Patriots\", minis for Newwave to comemorate 9/11.... (guess I\'m the living encyclopedia, huh? :p )

Anywyas, I really don\'t like the yellow, it\'s not bright enough to be used as the color triad, especially with that lighter blue.. you might want to use a more beige bodysuit, because the yellow is also throwing off the skin, in my opinion.. and what Dragonsreach said on the Blacklining.. Other than that, just keep at it! :D

Chrispy is indeed correct...

This is one of a pair of minis released by Newwave with the profits from sales going to the American Red Cross.

I\'d look at the interaction of the face and the bodysuit, and see where you might make them more distinct. I\'m assuming that you\'re going to highlight the face more, and I would try and move it away from the bodysuit color when you do that.

Also, a bolder blue would serve you well here. This is a \'manly man\' sculpt, and would do well with primary or dark blue as a power color. Lighter blue softens the effect I think you\'re going for.

I just find it odd....

that the fellow is wearing huge shoulder pads for protection, but cannot even be bothered with at least a cod piece....lollol

egads man, do you even have on underpants?????

Agreed, that body suit is too close to flesh. Use a bolder color. If you are man enough to wear bright blue shoulderpads, you can wear a bright spandex as well. Besides, with a gun like that, who is going to make fun of him?

Thanks !!

So if I sume it up :
- highlight face more
- birghter yellow or different color for body suit :red ?
- darker blue
- soften the blackline ( Did it black in an atempt to go for a very cartoon look, but guess it dosn\'t work :()

I\'ll get at it right away :D

@IPM: yes I usually do use black undercoat, but for some reason I felt like using white this time, since I was going to use bright colors I though withe would be more appropriat.

Ok, I so following advice from the people here I redid the yellow, trying to make brighter (quit hard to make yellow look really bright). And I redid the blue to make it darker. Also made a few touch ups on the face. tell me what you think !! :D

The face looks like it is in some VERY dramatic lighting - almost straight overhead. If the rest of it is done that way, it could look good.

I am still not a fan of the yellow, it is too close to flesh.

Ok here is the last WIP shot of it, I still have some small things to fix up so if you have last advice to give me now is the time :D And you get to hear the horrible thing that happened to it:eek: I was trying to squeese a bit of black on my palete and found the botlle to be cloged at the end, so beeing the stupid boy that I am ..I pressed harder !! Bad idea !!!! Never try it !!! the top of the bottle came off throwing paint just about everywere in a 2 feet area, including my computer, math lessons and... my mini wich got a huge blob of black on his nice yellow pants. So covered with paint I rushed to the bathroom with the mini and but it under water hoping to wash away before the black dried. And it worked, well mostly I still had a bit of black stain on the yellow, but the bad thing is it must have soften up the paint and it started chipping really easily, so I had to redo just about every color on the mini :( well I did the best I could and here it is :

Mini is looking good - It\'s got a superhero feel to it! Work on your photos a bit too. Your lighting is a little harsh. Try diffusing your lights with some tracing paper or fine muslin so that people get a better view of the paint job! :)

i think you still need something to break up that yellow on his lower half. i\'m still getting the \"superman caught short vibe\"
maybe some definition of some footwear or boots. and a darker graduation onto the torso. tip: watch some wrestling!

Yes the eyes.Hes just seen his yellow spandex in a mirror:D
Joking aside the mini is pretty good with a bold superhero look and worth a 6.5 from me.The head is much better skill wise and well worth a 7.
Get some pure white and edge highlight the gun and you should have some pretty good nmm too.

The eyes are easy to solve - just paint a darkish brown line over the top portion of them - you almost never see the top section of the pupil in peoples eyes and this will solve the glaring/staring problem....

I suspect this is what is going to happen to them :p But I\'ll just have to try to see, not going to improve without trying. As for the super hero feel, glad you guys see it it\'s what I was trying to go for, the stars on the shoulder pad quind of reminded me of capitain america :p
