So... First of all, sorry that I was gone from breakfast to 12:00 yesterday, so I literally did not have any time to write my article.

The good thing is that I was with the (JR) Intermediate Jazz Band, and out of 36 other bands there, we and 3 others performed in front of 400+ people and in the end, took \'Best Junior Jazz Band\'. Our group had to beat out the top-ranked band from a school focused almost completely on music, and composing of all tenth-graders, while ours was made up of ninth and tenth.

Here\'s the festival\'s official site!

And my good friend is going back today and will likely collect the \'Best Saxophone Player\' award and \'Most Outstanding Junior Jazz Musician\'.

After we were announced as the best Junior Band, the amazing Cory Weeds combo took the stage with the very talented Bill Coon on guitar, Cory Weeds on alto sax, Ross Tagart on tenor sax (I forget the drummers name... he was exceptional and stood out from any drummers, jazz or rock, that I\'ve listened to or seen.) and Dr. Lonnie Smith on the organ, who was the most characterful and powerful Jazz player that I\'ve ever seen. His improvisations were so complex and enthralling I was on the edge of my seat (no, I really was!).

Overall, it was a great day and an even better night, and I will have AMotW up later today.

Congrats on the win Ainu. Music is a great thing and we at CMoN are very proud of you and your band. Keep it going and don\'t abandon music like I did. AMoTW can be second plac today... it\'s all good!
