@duende: That devourer is looking great, can\'t wait to see it finished. Your best job so far I\'d say.

@TAB: Looking good, I love the fire effect. My only critiscime would be to light the weapons that are beeing fired a bit more. They\'re at the tip of the explosion afterall :p

@ Duende that is a realy nice bit of modelling there the colours work well and the wings make it look awesome. I would never have thought of that.

@ TAB the Ogre is good I would add a touch of black to the flames here and there as the weapon is a powder weapon ad would generate soot and smoke on ignition and that would be carried along and out of the barrel. But otherwise very nice indeed and the suggestion is just my personal taste.

Ok I just noticed a couple of questions about my Elluvari that need answering,

First off the skin, very easy here is the list,

Vermin Brown,
Dwarf Flesh,
Elf Flesh,

Vermin for the base and then mixes up to Elf flesh.

Secondly the red,

Scab Red Base
Red Gore
Blood Red
Blood Red with a little Blazing Orange.

Oh and Frenchkid that little dude is looking very nice.

Latest headache, er, project

I kept watching Michelle (Duende) work on her Fruitbat of Carnage and was inspired to finally go for my own conversion that I\'ve been plotting for about a month or so. Not nearly as elegant as the FBoC, but it\'s big and pointy and quite gribbley. I crossed a Carnifex with a Hive Tyrant, lots of \'niddy bits old and new, and about 1/3 of a strip of Green Stuff. I wanted something more realistic than the \"Alien\" Tyrant and more in flavor to what a swarm might be lead by. So, I made him in mid-leap, no ranged weapons and extra attitude for the ultimate close-combat killing machine.
Just to clarify, the bottom left picture is without the head to show the adrenal gland and the sculpting work. I know the pics aren\'t the greatest, but I\'m tired and I\'ve been working on this damn thing all day. Seriously.

@TAB - Tracy that is looking fantastic!!! I agree with french kid about addind a little more lighting to the weapons being propelled. I\'m also curious how you keep him from falling over, did you counterwieght the base?

@Duende - Michelle, your FBoC is looking incredible. Can\'t wait to see him finished!

@Dachande - nice conversion, that is the stuff that nightmares are made of.... :eek:

Cheers,
Grumb :cool:

OK, I\'ve never posted WIP before, but this is the mini I got from green_stuff in the second mini exchange. As you can see I\'ve really just started but I\'m pretty happy with him so far.

I want to do all the \"armour\" and ornamenty stuff in gold NMM. Any suggestions on how I can do all the detail on this guy without going insane? :D

Here is my finished Elluvari and it was a blast to do as well as being my first Sacredblade mini as well. I hope you like it as much as I have enjoyed painting it.

@NSA
That purple on his robe looks nice! Really deep and warm. Ornamented armour can be a bit tricky at first, but once you get used to it it\'s a lot easier than one would expect. I\'ve been doing a lot of filigree-heavy Rackham minis lately and I\'ve aquired quite a taste for it. :D I usually try to paint the flat surrounding areas first, so that I\'ve got a nice smooth background. Then, I tidy up the filigree or other ornamentation with the base coat, or a slightly darker shade of the base coat, and start highlighting it. It\'s really difficult to reach the surrounding areas if you already painted the ornamentation. I often do the flat areas slightly less bright, so that the ornamentation really stands out when it\'s finished. I hope I made sense. :)

*edit*
@tidoco
If I\'m not mistaken, that is the emperor from Ilyad games.

It is indeed Ilyad\'s \"Emperor Haghendorf\", a resin figure.

@Ritual: The purple is all GW colours - base is Liche Purple. I shaded with liche purple/black and highlighted up with purple/bleached bone (the key to making it \"warm\", IMO). Thanks for the advice on the armor, I think I will just paint the fur and then basecoat the gold in my new gold NMM base coat mix and work it up to light yellow highlights. I\'ll probably make the gems red, since I just painted his under-robe red too.

@Klute, tidoco, those are both great minis! I don\'t really care for either subject (as in \"I wouldn\'t choose to paint them myself\") but your paint jobs are godlike. tidoco, that\'s a great industrial style base!

@NSA : I\'m happy you\'re having fun with him. I thought it would be interesting to send you a mini that\'s still hard to find on your side of the Atlantic ;). I\'m look forward to seeing the final result :).

I have the paladin mini and how in the name of (fill in the blank) did you smooth her, Maybe it was just the one I got but the metal was pitted and rough as an old mans butt. I have gotten micro sand paper, I have buffed her w/dremmal, I sealed her with varnish, I stripped her 6 times (she was gonna be my ccv mini) I have smoothed her kinda and got one coat of skin but I must admit she has been set to the side.

@Tab
I got all 9 of the first wave Sacred Blade and they were perfect.I would expect some duff ones in the first wave of a new company but Im sure Pete wouldn\'t knowingly send one.He is a genuine guy and Im sure if you drop him an email he will send another.

Personally I wouldnt even fill a bad cast,knowing I would never have the heart to paint it.

OK, I\'ve got the general colour scheme for my Emperor laid out. I know the red and purple might look busy with the gold and white but I need the red so he doesn\'t look like a bottle of Crown Royal:

emperor-in-progress-006sm.jpg

The gold NMM base is a mixture of GW Dark Flesh and Golden Yellow. I used a painting by Hans Holbein as reference for this.

@Klute: You are right. Pete is a genuine guy. He got hold of me by e-mail. What a great company.

Here\'s a link to my finished product.

@Tiddoco: I added black, I agree.
@Frenchkid: Absolutely, I think you\'ll like the new highlights, they really worked well.

You all are what this place is about. Thanks, I owe you.
