Well I have been a busy bee just lately, first off Ogres and now this,

BrotherLuciusWIP.jpg

It is intended for my Inquisitor war band after reading the article in Fanatic 7 by Avicenna I remembered that I had this started and so dug it out.
It is Brother Lucius of the Ultra Marines and he is tied to the Inquisition which is why he has the Deathwatch Arm on him. I know it is not realy correct but hey it is fantasy after all :D.
It still has a way to go I need to do some deeper back shading as well as finish the areas that are still black and also the missing parts but so far I like how he looks.

You guys are making me feel like a slacker with all these paintjobs! :D

Actually I have 4 different projects that are in the conversion/sculpt stage, hopefully I can make good use of the weekend and get a couple ready for painting and post the finished conversions (excpet for my chick challenge piece of course :) )

I shall now go and start a couple more and see if I can keep it up. The finger print on the front of the base has since been removed :D

Your paint job is nice, but there ogres are probably the worst minis I have ever seen. I just hate them.

Well here is my second Ogre Wip, quite happy with it so far I may yet add a bit more highlighttot the skin but the darker shade does look ok in actuality.

Thanks guys, @sin3br no I do not spend all my spare time painting minis, I do play on the PS2 as well.
This paint aid project is important to me and I feel that the practice is well worth it when you consider what is trying to be achieved.

i think he said drybrush work, not airbrush work. i have an airbrush, but never found a use for it on minis. But if you do get one get a dual action airbrush instead of a single action. With a single action, you push the button and air/paint comes out only regulated by how far the nossle\'s unscrewed. But with a dual action you push the button for air and slide the button up for paint. So you can control the paint coverage better and get smoother blends. Well worth the money IMHO.

As for the upper body... is that cloth? Leather maybe? Might go for a deep brown leather with red in it to complement the green skin of the orc? You know the texture of leather i\'m thinking of? Like an old aviator\'s jacket maybe.

i dont know if its cloth or if its leather. im guessing leather for use as weak armour.
maybe i will have to go back and do some browns, the hint of red sounds like a great idea!
im going to go try it out in a bit.

ok here are the first wip shots for my ogre for the gw ogre contest (and later on for the paintaid as it hopefully will raise the price if it wins something)
i read the painting insctuctions about the shoes and metals a little too late but then again why should all ogres wear the same shoes or the same weathered metals ;)
any idea on what to do with the pants? a muted lighter brown? or a brighter color like camo green or a dark red??
took my ages for the metals to weather, the silver has some rusty reds, greens, blues, browns and black, the brass has brown, black, green and blue washes but im not really pleased with the result, little \"too much\" greenspan
the sculpting took me 2 days because i had to do most parts over and over again until i was more or less pleased with the results
btw the reaper paints ROCK i painted the boots with somethink pretty similar to gws terracotta (it was a free sample without saying what color it is)
...i almost forgot: the pictures ;)

@tab: i will email them to you along with my head & shoulder pic, i first need to find one to take the picture since its 2 am here ;)

Nice mini there Joshua, especially the metals...those boots are awesome.

This is my LOTR entry for GD LA , if I go *knock on wood* He\'s kind of an unassuming mini, without many opportunities for nmm or freehand, so I\'m just gonna try to give him a good paintjob and a little bit of lighting from the ring (sorry for the graininess of the picture, my camera was a bit stretched trying to get a large picture of a small mini. :D)

It\'s quite nice to paint small stuff, though...after painting for little over a day, all I have left to do is paint the skin, book, and do some touching-up. :)

This is a diorama from a Conan story - \"The Frost Giant\'s Daughter\". I haven\'t been too interested in doing a diorama before, I prefer to tell the tale of a single miniature, but it is a commission and the more the planning went along the more excited I got. I think this captures the moment in the story I am after - Conan has just killed the second of 2 frost giants the Frost Giant\'s Daughter has led him into an ambush by, and is screaming at her that she cannot escape him. The base will be snow-covered, and the giant was felled by a sword stroke to the neck, so his blood will be pouring into the snow from a half-severed neck. Conan may still get a horned helmet, not sure yet. Conan and Atali (The Frost Giant\'s Daughter) are not attached to the base yet so I can paint them and then do the final composition after, with all the snow and blood.
