provoke_me, your guy looks good so far. The skin/fur is an appropriate colour and the NMM looks very smooth and well-blended. It actually resembles metal already. Keep it up and you\'ll have a kick-ass mini!

/Didn\'t touch paint to brush tonight alas. Sick + tired = little motivation...

Wolfie Yours looks so great I am from an area that indeed I see sharks although I prefer to see the dolphins, Skin tone is very smooth and I love his tummy. Your armor as well is smoth and sweet :flip:

My Heresy Thrudd more of a post to get the feel of it realy. I am not getting on with it too well in fact most things that I touch at the moment are going a bit crappy. It looks like I need to tan his skin a bit so I may work on that though the skin does not look that pale in reality.

Anyway proke_me your lion is looking good good NMM so far keep it up.

well here is the current mini I\'m working on. A freebooter mercenrary that i got for the mini exchange. I\'m pretty happy with him so far. I need to touch up a couple of things and do the NMM on his hammer (not in pic). Any comment would be appreciated.

I like his pants! :D Maybe the purple needs some \"edge\" to it... Some distinct highlights on well-chosen spots. The face looks good!

Great work on everything above folks - I like those pants quite a bit French Kid. Gonna have to try that out.

Anyhow, I\'ve been busy with Ogres lately. Lots of the bastards. I figured I could chew through them fairly easily but truth be told, they\'ve almost managed to choke me a time or two.

lol

So far I have managed to paint up six bulls, two Lead Belchers and two Iron Guts. More or less they are done other than little stuff like fingernails ans some base work which I\'m going to get to in the next day or two.

Then its a Gorger, Butcher, Scrap Launcher, Tyrant, Skrag the Slaughterer and some gnoblars. Oh joy! Lookng forward to the individual miniatures to tell the truth.

And of course - like a lame ass, I haven\'t started up on a miniature exchange mini yet. Think I\'ll take a break in the next few days and go ahead and do that.

Here is a WIP shot so no fancy photoshoping.

Another shot of Thrudd again more for my own reference I don\'t know what it is but the skin is coming out realy pale in the picture when in reality it looks ok. The axe blade is donje in metallic as usual and has reflected badly the light source but like I said this is more for my own reference than anything else.

Frenchkid and FF looking good so far boys.

This is a very early WIP of my Ninja Ogre though he looks more like a biker to me hence the experiment with the tattoo around the bellybutton ( that won\'t be staying there by the way ). I like the mini though there is not much detail about it. I intend to paint the various other parts separately and add them later like the gut plate and the swords that should be strapped to its back.

This is another mini that will be heading for e-bay at some point as I think it is possibly the weakest of all the Ogre maneater sculpts.

Here\'s a slightly worked on (photoshop) version.
WIPFREEBOOTER2.jpg

I\'d suggest that you increase the strength of the face with a warmer tonal colour around the edges and in the crease by the nose. Likewise a slight strength increase in the hands.
The purple I\'ve darkened the shadow areas slightly, mostly in the area of his right hand coat margin and down the overlap by the buttons.
This is the \"traditional light from the figures left and at 45 degrees from the vertical\" area of shadow.
Similarly you\'ll need to increase the highlights on the material creases & edges. One area to consider is that around the stomach area material tends to wear and become paler. We of \"enhanced physique\" ;) tend to rest stuff we carry on here, so the wear and colour changes are slightly more apparent.

As for the trousers, personally I think that you\'ll need to add another highlight to the highlights, then wash down with a mid tone brown that is already there, to \"bring all the browns together \". That will smooth the colours and make the transitions seem more realistic.

Hope that this helps.

Provoke_me:

That lion looks awsome. The skin tones are great! Only comment, right now the model seems a little dark, are you going to lighten it alittle or is the theme dark?

TAB Studios:

\"Question is on the female bust is the breast area metal or leather?\"

Metal would be my bet, it\'lll aslo give a brighter result on the model as a whole. I like the dark hair, could also work better with metal than leather.

:)

Just a question would adding a warmer tone for the face consist of adding a bit of red to my shading color ? ( I really got get me some color theory :p)

I was thinking on the lines of a very very very diluted wash of GW\'s Dark Flesh or a Burnt Sienna colour.
I\'ve been working with very dilute washes recently to try to improve some of the colour of skin tones I\'ve been doing. But you may need to hold the figure upside down in order to get the wash to work best into the hairline.

Update on the Biker Ogre From Mars, this mini is a realy poor cast but I do like the overall design. I still feel that this character would not look out of place in a biker flick in fact if it were not for the katanas that will be eventually strapped to its back then I would even put Angel colours on the back of his waist coat.

OgreNinjaWIP2.jpg

I am trying to get the dirty biker kind of look and that is proving more difficult than I thought it would. I liked the idea of the spider web tattoo on his belly so much that I also put it on his elbow as well (corny I know).
To take up DR\'s point I have had some success with very dilute washes though this guy hasn\'t had any yet but they can be very effective but need to be very dilute and built up in stages. Anyway enough rambling aside to say that everyones work is looking great, TAB the skintone on that bust is beautifully done.

Last night I thought to myself I needed some training on free hand designs so I got back working on this wonderful mini. And then I saw Tracy\'s post. So I guess we have a friendly competition going on :).
BarbarianHuntressWIP2.jpg

I\'m not too happy with the back free hand, but that\'s all I could come up with.

All I need to do now are the skull, the feather, and the silver parts to finish her.

Thank you Andy. I can\'t wait to see the other CMONer\'s interpretation of this mini. I think that Mike and Finn have one, and of course so does Tracy :).

Trevor

Brushlicker and Freak!
@ Tracy. Looks good so far. I would add some more shadows to the skull in the deepest recesses.

I think leather would suit her better than metal for the breastplate, but maybe with metal shoulder pads.
