Here is the latest on my Ogre Ninja though like I said it looks more like a biker to me so that is how I have tried to portray it thus far. Just a bit of fun realy but I still think he looks cool.

Ok here\'s the latest on my mini exchange mini. I still have a couple of things to touch up, then it\'ll be done. I think the NMM needs some deeper shading but not sure. So bring on the comments, I\'m wearing my thick skin costume :p

@Tim : that free hand on the jacket is ace ;).

@Arthur : Over all nice, but the NMM does need more shading IMHO, and maybe you should give the coat a diluted purple wash to even up some of the highlights.

Granddad!
WIP in oils

Here\'s an Alma Figures 54mm Grenadier from the Crimea.

Alma_Wip1.jpg

These figures are aimed mainly at the \'Toy Soldier\' collectors & are normally painted in gloss base colors without highlights or shading. It\'s such a nice sculpt I decided to have a try with oils. The trousers are finished groundwork is yet to be completed. The torso is merely \'undercoated\' in acrylics in preperation for the oil paints, & really just so you\'d get the whole picture & not wonder why I\'d posted a pair of legs

I\'ve also revisited Aragorn, after reviewing the \'Fellowship\' DVD. Giving him a new base, & darkening his hair, a bit more stubble, the sword is just re-undercoated ready to be re-done, might try NMM on it this time

You know, I\'m actually going through a paint \'slump\' right now. I thought I was on the fast track of doing things right and then ... blaaaaah. Things just don\'t seem to be working out for me as well as I would like them. Ah well, I\'ll keep at it till I get it right.

Everything posted here is looking GREAT. Love the leather on that Huntress TAB, the brighter color really draws the eyes to her as a whole I think.

Klute, I WANT that miniature and will be getting it when its available. About time I put in an order for some of those miniatures that I\'ve been wanting. Love the different heads that are available as well. Question, what do you do for your base? It doesn\'t look like cork and I like the ... heck I don\'t know the right word but I like the look of it. Mind clueing me in (probably obvious but I\'m still a paint newbie for all purposes).

Tim, that Ogre is great. The Hells Ogres had me rolling. Too bad most of it will be covered up with the blades on his back. I would almost say just GS that hole and paint it up that way. Think it will get more than a few raised eyebrows and a laugh as well as win that in store contest.

Mick, your stuff is getting better and better! Like that Aragorn and that\'s saying something considering I don\'t like any of the LOTR stuff. Stubble looks good.

Oh, and James, I had that EXACT same problem with that weapon on the wolfen. I actually ended up Locktit\'ing it and then using a bit of GS around the broken areas (mine broke in three places - front, back and at the head of the scythe). Its holding up great now and I need to get back to work on it here soon.

@Klute: The sword...omigosh...the sword! You are doing great. Need I say more? Promise I\'ll remember to gloss.
@Frenchkid: Looks great, coming right along
@Tiddico: Rock on with your bad self! I really like it. LOL
@mick: Moving along, oil paints, huh? I wanna try those, maybe I\'ll bother you for some help
@Cukier: I\'d white balance the exposure on your photos and try less light. I have a feeling your work is awesome, photos holding you back. Looks pink.
@NSA: Wow. Even if you left it yellow, it looks really cool. I really like the mini. Lucky you.

@FF......the base \"rock\" is a piece of resin smashed up.Sort of a decent size just thrown on the floor to create its own little rocks.Got some really good looking pieces from it with undercuts and stuff. If you look in my gallery you will spot quite a few with them on.
The figure is amarch release £4.Its a great figure, the best barbarian guy Ive seen.I would recommend getting 2 cos you are going to want to do that orc:DHe isnt up on the shop yet but should be soon.

Blasphemy! Why do they even bother with such high-quality sculpting if these heathens will just slap some blobby gloss enamel on there? Green plastic army men should do fine for them.

@mickc22 - he\'s coming along great, hekc the top half is practically a 5 already and you\'ve just undercoated it :) I\'m sure he\'ll be amazing once those oils are on there.

Technical question, how long do oils take to dry at this scale? I know they stay wet longer than acrylics so you can get amazing blends but do you have to wait ages for an undercoat to dry before you put a different colour on top, for instance?

Granddad!
I\'m using the fast drying Alkyds as well as regular oils, they are touch dry within a day or so. Plus on a mini they aren\'t as thick as they would be on a canvas, so you can speed up the drying time of even regular oils by putting them next to your hot water tank, keep them cover tho, wet oils are super dust magnets!

A day to a week to dry? Eek! You have more patience than me, my friend. I\'ll just have to settle for what acrylics will do for me :)

@CUKIER - Great work on all those! the NMM on the Sentinels is fantastic, the glowing eyes look good too though it\'s hard to really get a look at them in that pic. I like the stone bases too, what\'s the secret colour mix for those? :D Also, your purple is amazing, I know someone here who\'d love your advice on using that colour :)
