Work In Progress

@James - man, I just went back a page and saw your blade for that wolfen. I did a double take, that is so good it looks real!!! Excellent work!

It\'s been a while since I posted anything up. Here is a Rackham Fiana that I started working on months ago and haven\'t got round to finishing. I decided that I didn\'t want to go with the enamelled armor look and I\'ve been wanting to try some of these new colored metallics so I thought that the blue metal would look good on this piece. I look forward to hear your comments and thoughts on this.

Looking nice Scott, always nice to see metals on a Rackham.

Wyrmling.....you can get good realistic looks with washes but dont forget to \"clean\" it up after,re setting highlights etc.Usually washes make the figure look \"dirty\" and some \"cleaning\" is needed.

Thanks Mark! Haven\'t quite decided what to do with the anorexic young lady yet. I like the way that the armor is turning out so far.

Cheers,

Looks good Grumb, I like the metals, and you did a good job with the blue also.

I have a question. Here is a picture of a Shaka-Umruk, and I was wondering if y\'all thought it would work to put those tatoos on my Guardian of the Runes wolfen. It would be a lot of work, and I don\'t know if it would look stupid and unfitting. What do you think?

@James.......no tattoos for me mate.....have you seen kittykat32uk\'s fluffy wolfen article. Its how to paint your wolfen with a furry look, well worth looking at.For me these guys would be too hairy for tats apart from certain areas.

@James - thanks for the comment, appreciate the feedback. I have to agree with Mark about the tattoos. I don\'t think it would look right on a wolfen. The example that you showed with the lighter colors looks more like \"warpaint\" to me. I\'d say leave it all off. The tones on your wolfen are looking pretty darn good already.

Cheers,
Scott

Thanks Klute and Grumb. I am glad you think so because I wasn\'t feeling like painting all that on him anymorelollollol. He is almost done, except for the skin and the staff of the sickle. And thanks for the suggestion, I will go look at Kittykat\'s article now.

@wyrmling - what klute said. I think your guy should look a little dirty - he is an amphibian after all - but not too much. He looks very promising right now though. All \"toady\".

@james - Tattoos on a Wolfen seems just wrong. They\'re furry! Tattoos would barely be visible. I\'m glad you decided against it - it would be heartbreaking to do a great paint job and then bollocks up the final stages :(

OK, so I\'m still struggling with my Ilyad king guy from the mini exchange:

I did NMM on the sword blade tonight - but it doesn\'t look at all like metal! The gold is actually pretty good though I now recognize some critical errors I made early in the process which will be tough to remedy... And the gems.. oh yes, the gems are driving me crazy.

Thanks for the comments guys. I\'m nearing completion of the Slann itself, and will hopefully have some pics of the Palanquin soon. You guys were definitely right about the dirty look - a bit of touching up here and there was necessary, but all in all I like the effect.

I don\'t think I\'d use is for \"pro\" jobs (yet), but I think it\'s a great way to paint up important gaming pieces. I think I\'ve saved a decent amount of time by using this method as opposed to million-level layering. Granted, it doesn\'t looks as smooth, but in a way looks more natural.

the pic is not up to date :) .at the moment the mini is nearly finished.
I still don`t know whether to add some oxidization/rust orl eave it clean.....

Well, that\'s just all around good. The face, NMM silver, and the plate mail. As for oxidation or not, I like it the way it is, but it could look cool. What is the model, it looks Rackham?

Gold NMM isn\'t finished yet, actually. It does need another highlight or two, up to pure white. How about the sword?

The blade still looks really grey like stone. I\'d highlight it up some more as well. As Zaphod once told me, you have to highlight it up to pure white a some point to make it look good...

And no, I haven\'t figured it out yet either, my NMM still stinks... lol

Thx Mark and james9487. I`ll leave it clean then :)

@james9487 - yes, it`s rackham model indeed. . it`s tir-na-bor mountain warrior (or simply speaking dwarven giant :) )

this is simply stunning EricJ !!! what colours have you used and how you blended them? it looks so smooth, even on such close up. I think it`s the best dragyri face I`ve seen so far (and I really mean it - I`m not a kind of asslicker :D )
