Worth a repost?

Here is my current entry for Alastriel, coming in at a 6.0

...and here is a newer photo.

Help me out here... is it ever really worth it to repost an entry with a better photo? Would it be annoying to see the same mini posted several times over the course of a few weeks, just with (presumably) better photos?

i prefer the first pic and voted high for it also. i want to say 7 possibly 8 (7.5)
repost is annoying to some but heck do it and see which one gets a better score lol
then get rid of the lower one.

I prefer the 1st photo too and also voted 7ish for it. I don\'t know why the score is so low but hang in there. Things tend to balance out the more votes you get.

I think the second one looks better, although it needs to be a bit brighter to better see the details; easy enough to brighten it or adjust the gamma with a photo program.

I say post them both, and see if the one that looks closest to the actual mini scores higher.

Personally, I think the second pic is the better of the two, but I\'d give both of
them a 7.

A lot of minis recently posted are running at lower-than-they-deserve scores, I\'ve
noticed.

Or maybe I\'m just a bit more generous...?

I\'m going to agree that the second picture is better, after its brightened a bit.

However, is reposting the mini worth it? I don\'t think it would be.

have to agree with the last two posts...i think the second pic is better, but the scores would probably not go up much...your gallery shows your improvement, but the level that it takes to get solid 8\'s is not reflected in this mini...
the hair needs more contrast, and a few bright reflections off the tops of the curves...the fingernails need more reflection and dark definition...eyes are good, sword is good, flesh and tat are good...the gold on the wrist of the arm holdin\' the staff needs blacklinin\' like you did on the gold bracelet on the other wrist...
all the basecoat is solid, and well balanced, everything just need a bit more definition and stronger highlights...

cheers

Well to be perfectly honest the top picture is brighter with better contrast but the Shadows are the failure.
You have a direct light source from the right of the photo and that has created a heavy shadow in the recesses detracting from the mini.
The lower photo has less shadow but no contrast and no bite to the picture.

Personally I\'d try another photo this time lit from the same place as the camera is based. The best description I gan give is to point you to THIS article.
It helped me and gave me a great starting point to work from.

You are absolutely right about the light source. I have a two light fixture that I\'ve been trying to use, and only later did I realize that I only had the right-side light turned on when I took the first pic. I used a large fluorescent bar for the second pic, and I agree that the contrast is... ummm... less than stellar. Part of the problem is that my wife and I both have new LCD monitors, which are quite bright. What looks good at home looks dismal on some of the monitors at work.

I\'ll keep trying! Thanks for the tips!

I must say that I prefer the second pic, if it\'s more to the reality, of coarse you should try to capture the actual look of the mini :D

i stink at photography but it seems the first is too bright and the second two dark, so somewhere inbetween? (but of those two i prefer the 1st)

Mike, I think the last try (adjustment?) is better than the first two you posted.
