Product Description

  1. Come in 1/2 oz. dropper bottles. They are meant to be dispensed onto a palette or other mixing surface and thinned a bit with water before use. Thinning a Master Series Paint for basecoating your miniature works well using a ratio of four or five drops of paint to one drop of water or flow improver. Other applications, like washes or layering, require more thinning.
  2. Master Series are a thinner, more fluid paint, and will typically require two smooth coats (thinned as outlined above) to cover well. Because of this they excel at techniques requiring thinned paint, such as washes, glazing, and layering. If you are looking for a paint which can be thinned extremely, which resists separation of colors when thinned, and which has inherent flow properties to achieve beautiful smooth blends and delicate glazes, Master Series is probably your pick! Reaper's Staff Painter usually uses Master Series for highlighting, shading, washes and glazes.
  3. Master Series Paints come in Triads. Most of the Triads consist of a basecoat (middle) color, a shading color, and a highlighting color, in order to aid painters who aren't sure what to use for shadows and highlights. Sometimes these Triads are merely similar colors, such as the Off-Whites triad or Liners Triad.
  4. Master Series Paints are somewhere between satin and dead matte.
  5. Master Series Paints have excellent adhesion; they stick to the model very well and resist chipping and rub-off from normal handling. In addition, the Master Series line has a Brush-On Sealer that works very well with the paints, adding additional protection.
  6. Master Series Paints work very well in airbrushes!
  7. Master Series Paints have flow improver added to their base formula for additional flow factor, aiding in fine detail work, washes, and glazes.
  8. Master Series Paints encompasses a line of 216 colors, additives, primers, inks, metallics, and sealers, and includes specialty colors like the brilliant Clear Brights and Liner Colors for lining your models.
  9. Almost all Master Series Paints are different from the Pro Paints colors. Similar colors, like Volcano Brown or Oiled Leather, have the same name in both lines.
