Imperial Guard Sergent - 5th Juxtari Bombadiers

Finally finished the test mini for my proposed Imperial Guard Regiment, the 5th Juxtari Bombadiers (Raging Bears). The key things I want to achieve with these minis are... * Get a reddish skin tone on my soldiers * Desert camoflague that is still asthetically pleasing * Learn how to do decent freehand!!! Given the above points, please give comments and ratings, particulrly giving focus to the freehand bear claw (which I'm quite proud of) and the execution of the skin tone (which Im pleased with the ink effect execution, but the lines I pick out will improve with practice!) Thanks!

I actually like the camo color scheme , and think a 3rd middle hue would only weaken the model... My only beef, and it's a minor one, is the face of the model... I'm having a hard time with the face...is it camo paint on his forehead ? It looks like 2 brown lines running vertically down his forehead into his eyes...

Thanks for the kind comments DMC. Believe it or not there's actually three browns involved in the armour plates, but I'm afraid the varnish layer didnt do it any favours as it muted the middle brown so much that it looks like the basecoat unless inspected closely in real life. One of those things really. I think I'll have to mix my mid-tone lighter to combat the 'varnish muting' effect.

Basing on the points you have given, then I think you have performed well. The only thing that drags it down from 8 to 7 is the brown, it needs more deapth. Now it just look like you have two brown colors, another one is needed.
