Dark Eldar Warrior w. Custom Plume

Well, whats the story behind this one? It is a well known fact that the Dark Eldar Miniature from GW is tad wee bit outdated, and many of my friends tend to give all DE minis the boot, ME on the other hand do agree to a certain extent. If you scroll through the codex and watch the illustrations of the Dark Eldar, most will probably discover how AWESOME they look on the illustrations, but the minis seldom do the illustrations justice. So at present time I always try to model my Dark Eldar based on the illustrations, with slight conversions. This is one such project. The most ugly thing about the Warriors plastic parts is their ridiculus plume that you can mount on their heads, it is way to big, and it sort of floats around in an unnatural way, i just hate it. So with this mini i tried my hand at sculpting a custom plume with green stuff. Now i am well aware of that i am not the best sculptor around (but im trying to learn the art of green sculpting), so i hope that my eerie paint job can make up for it. Unfortunatly i didnt have a great source of light while snapping these pics, but i hope that you can see enough of it anyway. One thing that i think turned out really great was the severed heads that hangs from the Warriors waist, ok the hair looks a bit slimey (damn inks have that effect some times), but i was really pleased with the eyes. I wanted the heads to look dead (duh!), so instead of making little black dots for pupils, i used fortress grey to make it look like the eyes usually do on long dead corpses (its called something in forensic terms when the eyes do that, but my english skills lack on that particular department, feel free to help me out). I also used some purple beneath the eyes to add to this "dead" looking effect Another thing i think im beginning to master is the "light source effect" (or whatever it is usually called), where you paint certain areas so they look like they have light reflecting from them. Notice on the splinter rifle's clip. Anyways, i hope you will like it too. Feel free to comment!

Rather nice Paint Job, think youve used inks a little too much though, a rule that i always try to follow when using inks, is that water them down, it will remove that gloss, slimy effect that sometimes appears after inking.
