Converted Skaven Giant
Recently converted and painted for use in GW Spains Direct Sales Giant promotion. I arrived late and got the short straw...all the other interesting conversion options (Empire, Tomb Kings, Dark Elves, Vampire Counts) had already been taken leaving me with Skaven. At first I struggled for ideas, placing a giant in a LD 5 Skaven army is a bit wierd, but as I flicked through background etc. it occurred to me that the Clan Moulder may well have such a beastie in their arsenal. Without furthur delay, I was working to a tight schedule, I picked up the bits and went to work, 2 hours later the conversion was finished and ready to paint. I used a big bell so that the miniature could represent an alternative screaming bell in the game, he has lots of mutations and warpstone embedded in his body/head. I trird a lighting effect technique where the skin meets the warpstone, also a corrupting effect from the Warpstone chunks. You can see and order the bits of this and other giants on GW Spains online store. Check out the Vampire counts giant from Jafet Sam Martin, it's really cool IMO. At the moment it is on disply in GW Consell de Cent in Barcelona city centre. When I get him back I want to spend some time painting some branded marks, and pattern work on the trousers. At the time I was painting it I was up against the clock, I managed to finish it in around 5 hours. Which for me is going some!! My next Giant will be a converted Ogre Slave Giant. The conversion work is complete, just need to pluck up the courage to paint all that skin all over again... Watch this space. Jon
