Badruck Headsplitta
Badruck Headsplitta: Another Orc, full of Warhammer Classic orcyness. “Badruck” is another Games day orc and full of character. Like the Gorkamorka Ork I did, this too has a dark skin tone to make him the epitome of a Black Orc Warboss. Initial coats of Burnt Cadmium and then highlights of Black green and Reflective green, with washes of Burnt Cadmium to smooth out the skin graduations. The Metallic paint was very thin Boltgun worked up carefully using glazes of Windsor & Newton Raw Sienna as rusted areas. Shadow detail in the metals was worked down using Vallejo Black Glaze and the highlights of Boltgun reapplied. I wanted to do something different than the continuing the Metallic paint on the shoulder pads so I opted to do a “checkerboard” pattern on one of the shoulders. That took me a good three hours working on it, but atfer marking out and then painting in and highlighting all the squares I was happy. So in order to ensure that as an orc he wasn’t all “bright and new looking”, I washed it over very carefully with and extremely thin glaze of the Vallejo Black Glaze to tone it down. I though that it worked so well, that I did it again on the other shoulder pad. However on this one I added some rust streaks which originate from the gash in the metal. For these I again used very carefully applied Windsor & Newton Raw Sienna in several layers making the streaks follow the what would be the vertical line when the arm is in the downward vertical position. Like a lot of figures I’ve been working on lately he is mounted on one of Spacemunkie’s “Groundforge” bases. He is now, though Dauber22, residing in the USA in the collection of Dedwrekka.
