Cthulhu fhtagn!
ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn ("In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming") Reaper's "Eldritch Demon" looks an awful lot like H.P. Lovecraft's arch-fiend, so I just had to have one! One of the best-known creatures in Lovecraft's horror fiction, Cthulhu is an ancient godlike being who lies imprisoned (or is he only waiting?) on the sunken Antarctic continent of R'lyeh, until he eventually returns to destroy all life. This didn't turn out as one of my best pieces, alas, I found the peculiar detailed-yet-irregular skin texture difficult to deal with, and wanted to get it done some time before the Old Ones return. But it was a lot of fun to paint! The base is a cast slab of plaster, chipped with a screwdriver - I didn't even try to attempt the "non-Euclidean geometry" of his home in R'lyeh as described in "The Call of Cthulhu". Cthulhu's name is inscribed on the base with glow-in-the-dark paint (along with a few protective runes).
